[L to R -- Legacy of the Divine Tarot, Light and Shadow Tarot, Gaian Tarot]
Depending on our individual birth month and day, a specific Major Arcana tarot card is assigned to every calendar year and governs it with its archetypal energy. For me, 2023 is a Wheel of Fortune year. Therefore, the Wheel will turn for good or bad and bring major life changes and new directions. Usually a Wheel of Fortune year is quite unmistakable in its rotational upendings and turning points. And so has mine been to date!
[L to R -- Cat Tarot, Runic Tarot, The Pulp Tarot]
Early in 2023, my lengthy connection with My Rare One came to an end. Our rather turbulent 20 year relationship had many ups and downs already, moving over the years through romance, cohabitation, separate abodes but continued partnership, and a final BFF phase which now has also terminated. We are not in each other's lives anymore.
This is, of course, a major life change but one which I am prepared to meet. Every ending is a new beginning, after all, and who knows what the future holds? Good things, I hope.
[L to R -- Morgan-Greer Tarot, Tarot of the Cat People, Triumph of Life Tarot]
A Wheel of Fortune year can and does bring good things too. By way of an example, I recently won a $250 gift card from our Canadian grocery chain, Save-On-Foods, in its Hockey "Score and Win" contest!
Woo hoo! Free eats! "Thanks, Dave!"
I'm sorry you're dealing with a major life change, but admire how you're handling it. Not an easy journey, especially at this age. We're there for you!
ReplyDeleteEndings are hard. And I’m sorry you’re going through this. But like you said endings mean a New beginning. Hard as it is. Life is just like that. The wheel keeps turning

Wow! I am so sorry to read that your long-term relationship has come to an end! Really consider what your next step will be ... at least HRH is still with you ... I sure hope so! A cat is more dependable then most humans have proven to be!
ReplyDeleteTake care and don't rush into anything!
@ Marcia LaRue -- Yes, HRH is always with me in spirit! Physically though, she crossed the Rainbow Bridge about 10 years ago. She purrsists in haunting me, however! And don't worry, I won't be rushing into anything. At my age and stage of life, I don't expect to have another committed relationship again.
ReplyDeleteI am reasonably new to your blog, so I did not know your girl had crossed the bridge! I am so sorry! Perhaps now would be an opportune time to get a new Royal Feline! Find a Maine Coon ... they are the absolute best and love their people! If I could have another one where I live now ... I would in a heartbeat! Sadly ... no pets allowed where I live now! 😢🐹🐱🐈😢
Deleteending a relationship is not always a bad thing. you have years to get to know yourself even better than you already do. you two did try so maybe this was inevitable. all my best,i think you will be fine.
ReplyDeleteGood to be able to adopt such a positive attitude. In some moments it must be challenging.
ReplyDeleteI'm really sorry to hear of the end of your relationship. May the changes the rest of 2023 brings be only good ones for you.
ReplyDeleteI hope the remainder of the year has wonderful good things and the bad things are over. Take care, Debra.
ReplyDeleteI had been wondering about the Rare One lately given that you so often mentioned them before. Wishing you beautiful surprises in your life.
ReplyDeleteHugs ~~~
ReplyDeleteYou are very good at keeping secrets from us. I had no idea.
ReplyDeleteI know that sometimes relationships have to end but I am kind of sad for you anyways. (Don't tell anybody I wrote that.) Winning $250 is nice but hardly seems like fair compensation.
Seeing the different tarot representations is nice, though.
"Good things, I hope."
ReplyDeleteA $250 win is a good start.
So sorry to hear what you re going through. I hope things get better.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry Debra. Even if it's for the best, and this is what you both want, it's never easy to go your separate ways. As Tasker says, you do seem to have a positive attitude which helps a great deal. Take care of yourself.
ReplyDeleteI’ve never had my cards read, I’d love tge experience
ReplyDeleteI’m sorry for the split
I know how that feels
Oh I am so sorry that your rare one and you have gone your separate ways. But it sounds like you both made attempts to keep it alive. Alas, perhaps it will allow you to find a new romance. I am making a special surprise for you and in contact to ship it.
ReplyDeleteSome relationships have been ended by others, some by myself. My attitude always was onward, onward, onward.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry and good things in your future for sure.
ReplyDeleteYou are so positive in attitude. Hope another phase of your life will be as interesting as before.
ReplyDeleteWhoo Hooo on the win. I have a beautiful old set of Tarot Cards. They are works of art. Debra, I am so so sorry that your relationship has ended. I hope it ended before a hateful bitterness developed. You are in my thoughts and I am sending healing vibes towards you. I think, as hard as it is, that we are better alone than in a bad relationship that causes us angst. I hope you find peace and healing. Love to you-Diana
ReplyDeleteDefinitely good things ahead for you.
ReplyDeleteThere are three primary constants in life: gravity, the speed of light and change. May this new chapter of your life bring only good things. And don't spend all your winnings on Cheezies or chocolates, LOL!
ReplyDeleteWishing all the best for happy future.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe.
I am so sorry to hear this. One time i had a rare one, and after 25 years we were growing apart. It wasn't our fault.
ReplyDeleteThere is no blame. We did the best we knew how.
You will be ok. You have resources to help you with this.
You can use them. I would like to thank you for this SheWhoSeeks project that you share with us. I have learned so many things. Thank You.
In times like this
i used to use the I Ching. I used to use coins, because i do not have the training to use the yarrow sticks.
I am not looking to predict the future. But sometimes consulting the I Ching has helped me and given me insight.
Thank you again dear friend i am sorry to hear this
I'm sorry to hear this, Debra. Even if it's for the best, change can be difficult, and I admire how you handle it. Wishing you all good things on this new journey. And if you need support, please don't hesitate to get in touch!
ReplyDelete*hugs*
ReplyDeleteI love how you're dealing with this. It takes courage and a lot of introspection to get to this point.
But as you say, every end is a new beginning. Here's to a bright future.
XOXO
Dear Debra, I think the 20 years were an important time - and now it's time for something new. May there be good and strong new experiences. And congratulations on winning the food gift card 😁
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful new week! 🌷☘️🌷
Warm rust rose greetings, Traude 😘

I'm sorry to hear that your long-term relationship has moved on to another (don't want to go Monty Python here) plane.
ReplyDeleteAt least you had a good 20+ years with someone you loved, even though that love eventually moved on as well.
Very cool that you won a plethora of free groceries.
I loved this entry for I got to see a variety of decks.
ReplyDeleteI know quite a few older women who's long term relationship has ended. I think its encouraging that we no longer have to stay in a place that isn't good for us simply because we have no other option. I like your outlook on this change too and it sounds like you've seen it coming for a while.
ReplyDeleteYou've joined me in a demographic I call 'Blessedly Single'. We are enculturated to want to be part of a couple (especially as women), but it isn't the only way to be, and sometimes not even the best way for us as individuals. I hope the break-up was amicable and that you and she can be pleasant with one another. I'm wishing you all the best health and happiness going forward!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the grocery win! The Wheel is definitely rewarding you!
xoxo
So sorry to hear that your relationship ended..A lot of relationships don't last that long..for various reasons..I guess we just need to be grateful for times shared..
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the gift card.."Free eats " is good these days..Anything free is good...mostly..
Have a happy week..
It is hard to break off/up a relationship that ran that long. There is a pain there that lingers. Two of my grown children went through that, though not 20 years of togetherness.
ReplyDeleteI'm very sorry your Rare One and you are not longer in each other's lives. That is always such a huge shock. But, like you said, some endings are inevitable... and the same is true of beginnings.
ReplyDeleteYes, it must be that it is time to move on to the new. You are wise in your outlook. Wishing you the best as you move forward.
ReplyDeleteSending big huggs and a plate of freshly baked cookies. Here's to new chapters and new books as well.
ReplyDeleteWow Debra. We are both having these big life changing years aren't we? Turbulent is a word I would describe as my experience also. It's bitter sweet because we don't want the "turbulence" but miss the person we fell in love with. I would say my year was a Tower year but now I'm moving towards The Star. I know that your Wheel of Fortune year will bring you amazing things on the upturn. As corny as this sounds, where a door closes another one opens, opportunity from loss right? You'll be okay, you're a lovely strong lady. Contact me any time if you want to talk! ♥♥ Sending lots of hugs to you! ♥♥♥
ReplyDeleteThe Wheel of Fortune always reminds me of the Carmina Burana.
ReplyDeleteI'm so very sorry that you and Your Rare One have separated for good, but when you add in the word Turbulent as a descriptive, it doesn't sound perfectly wonderful. On to new beginnings for you, my sweet friend.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on winning free food; who doesn't love that?
So sorry to hear about the breakup. Has to be hard to leave a 20 year relationship. Sending cyber hugs
ReplyDeleteHoping the wheel doesn't spin you too roughly as you're adjusting to the new life changes. *hugs*
