Every Friday, Nicole Campanella of
hosts Friday Face OFF, a link party
of art featuring faces!
This week I'm finally participating by sharing
wildlife faces I drew in a recent graphite course.
My favourite is the giraffe --
what a goofy but unique face
giraffes have!
All pieces were done freehand
using four graphite pencils
(HB, 2B, 4B, and 6B)
Pelican
Elephant
Giraffe
Blue Jay

Bravo Debra - they are a real pleasure to behold.
ReplyDeleteI love them all! Please come to Spain and draw with me.
ReplyDeleteWow! Great sketches I must say. I can barely draw a straight line.
ReplyDeleteAmazing talent, thank you for sharing
ReplyDeletewow, you are talented! i love the giraffe too!
ReplyDeleteLove the elephant!
ReplyDeleteAnd that giraffe IS giving you FACE!
XOXO
OMG!!!! I am breathless with the art you are showing today. That Pelican is spectacular as well as the other 3. The Elephant's eyes tell a story. The Giraffe looks soft like they are. The Blu Jay has perfect stance. I am totally taken by your art. I wish I had just a bit of your talent. Please don't forget to link up with Mr. Linky. I want everyone to see these. Have a very nice day today.
ReplyDeleteWow!
ReplyDeleteDebs....these would make excellent greeting cards. I can see it... She Who Seeks cards. The daughter who now runs the Sheldrick Trust, the elephant sanctuary in Kenya I donate too... does the art for the greeting cards for the trust's online shop...and it looks just like these. I think I may have sent you the Christmas card she did. You could do this!!!! I think these are excellent examples. I know many markets that would sell them , or you could have them produced just for your own writing stock.
ReplyDeleteI adore the elephant!!!! And the giraffe, but they are all swell.
It is a good thing Sassybear is on vacation, or he might covet that giraffe. I find the elephant striking, myself.
ReplyDeleteWhat is your next class?
@ Old Lurker -- I am taking a class this morning on how to paint with coffee! Should be interesting? And if I feel sleepy, I can drink my art supplies.
ReplyDeleteWow, Debra, thesse are absolutely fabulous. The giraffe is my fave, too! Hugs, Valerie
ReplyDeleteYour pelican looks just like a drawing from a 19th-century natural history book! --Jim
ReplyDeleteThose drawings are spectacular. Giraffes have the best eyelashes in the animal kingdom.
ReplyDeleteAMAZING!!! How talented you are!
ReplyDeleteI have said it before and I will say it again: You definitely have a real talent!
ReplyDeleteMistress M is right ... you should see about selling your prints!
..these are fabulous, I will need to stick with my camera.
ReplyDeleteDebra, I have to agree with Mistress Maddie, these would make wonderful getting cards! If you have no interest in selling them, they would be a wonderful donation to a wildlife foundation. I would buy a box set!
ReplyDeleteE
Alright, show off! You need to follow Mistress Maddie's advice and start making money off your talent. Even if it's just an internet site. You need a catchy name. Deb's Dabbles? Debby Does Pencils?
ReplyDeleteThey are all fabulous, but, yeah, there's something about the giraffe.
ReplyDeleteThey’re all brilliant. Very well done you. Beautiful work
ReplyDeleteYour artwork is great! The Bluejay is especially exquisite and I love the giraffe's cute muzzle whiskers... have you ever considered entering competitions or art shows? If not, you really should!
ReplyDeleteWOW! You are very talented! Love them all.
ReplyDeleteVery talented!
ReplyDeleteLove them.
ReplyDeleteYour drawing is exquisite!
ReplyDeleteWow Debra, these are absolutely amazing. These are great to see. Have a super weekend.
ReplyDeleteWow. Very impressive, Debra. These are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous art
ReplyDeleteAll so good that I can't even pick a favorite, but since you think it's the giraffe, I'll go with that.
ReplyDeleteThanks, i was thinking about how much i enjoy these.
ReplyDeleteBe brave, pick up those watercolors again!
I like the way you have with a pencil. I like the way
you are, and i know i am not the only one.
It is a priveledge to visit here.
I like the altars you build for each Month.
We are having the Flower time right now.

ReplyDeleteOh and Happy World Bee Day!
bobbie
Omgoodness what talent you have!!! Amazing! I had no idea😘😘😘
ReplyDeleteWoah. Got some exceptionally good looking drawings there, very life-like.
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful, Debra! You've really captured the essence of each animal. It's hard for me to pick a favorite, but I think your birds are spectacular! I'm so worried about the ability for elephants and giraffes to survive long term. And I'm noticing a distinct lack of birds in our area this spring. The scarce bird songs are distressing. I have my fingers crossed that we are just experiencing a late spring. Thanks for sharing your beautiful art! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteWell done, did you take art classes.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on, and stay safe.
@ peppylady (Dora) -- Yes, these were all done as assignments in an art course I recently completed.
ReplyDeleteOMG luv luv these faces
ReplyDeleteMuch💖love
Hi Debra
ReplyDeletei'm inviting you to Sunday Smiles at my Lunchbreak blog
Happy Sunday
HERE
Much💖love
Your drawings are really good. I love them 🥰
ReplyDeleteGiraffes are my favourites too. Wonderful drawings, you are a very talented artist.
ReplyDeleteYou are an AMAZING artist. How did I not know that sooner? I love all the renderings but I am drawn to elephants and giraffes run a close second. We just took the Safari tour in Florida in the Animal Kingdom and it was wonderful. My grandgirl got some really great pictures.
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful Sunday and upcoming week, Debra! xo Diana
Just want to say I hope you and your loved ones are safe from the wildfires in Alberta. I know how scary it can be to be anywhere near the danger. Stay safe. And of course the artwork rocks!
ReplyDeleteWow, Debra! These are all amazing. Beautifully done!
ReplyDelete@ Frank -- Thankfully, Edmonton itself is not threatened with wildfires but we've been blanketed with thick smoke for the last few days. Apparently we're enjoying the worst air quality in the world right now. I'm sure Beijing is envious that we've knocked them out of the #1 spot.
ReplyDeleteAwesome!
ReplyDeleteWishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,
A ShutterBug Explores,
aka (A Creative Harbor)
I like the elephant best.
ReplyDeleteI read your profile and was surprised that you didn't list art as one of your interests, as you are indeed a talented artist. And, I don't know what level of creativity you were on when you took this course, but you sure came out with a flare. Beautiful drawings and I think I would choose the giraffe as well. I love that you show so much support for our bees on your side bar as they need our awareness and all of our efforts to insure their survival.
ReplyDeleteI also noted that spirituality was on the top of your list. Have you watched Rain's Spiritual videos? You two should get together... It would seem that you have much in common. So glad I came over here today, Debra (or do you go by Debbie?) I think you have much to offer the blogging world :)
Andrea @ From the Sol
@ Andrea @ From The Sol -- Thanks for your kind words, Andrea! You are absolutely right -- my profile is indeed out of date and I will update it soon. I've done some drawing and art all my life but have only been systematically taking art lessons since I retired 5 years ago. And yes, I enjoy Rain's spirituality videos, along with her art and food ones too!
ReplyDeleteMy first thought when looking at your work: Are you kidding me?! Freehand?
ReplyDeleteThese are so amazing, Deb. You are a true artist, and I bow at your amazingness!!
These are great! I'm partial to the sassy blue jay myself.
ReplyDeleteWow.. those are masterfully. Brilliant job Debra.
ReplyDeletewell since im a giraffe person. I love if. So much. I have giraffe's all over my living room and the gg's fight over who's going to get what when I croak.
