  19. Sorry, can't add any more lesbians. We ran out. There was a good supply but it seems they have been erased. (Don't believe me? Just ask your lesbian friends.)

  20. @ Old Lurker -- The viewpoint that trans men, by transitioning to their true selves, are thereby engaged in "lesbian erasure" is an ugly and hateful expression of transphobia. I reject it utterly, just as I reject the equally transphobic TERF assertion that trans women are, and can never be, true women.

    ReplyDelete
  21. @Debra: I was thinking more of your friend who was mad that sapphic women are calling themselves "queer" and not "lesbian", but you are certainly right that the TERFs have some strong opinions on this.

    ReplyDelete
  22. @ Old Lurker -- The whole "queer vs lesbian" terminology debate is, I think, just my generation of second wave feminists not being able to let go of control in order to "allow" younger generations of third wave feminists to define themselves as they see fit, i.e. pure intergenerational conflict or "generation gap." I think it's the superficial part of the lesbian erasure debate; the uglier doctrinal views underlying the whole "they're stealing our butches" erasure argument is transphobia.

  26. Debra, I remember that you are fond of labryinths. The labryinth in the Silver Springs Botanical Garden in northwest Calgary is coming into bloom right now. Here is a link, hope the link works. https://www.facebook.com/Silverspringsbotanicalgardens
I believe it is a creeping thyme, but don't quote me on that. It blooms little purple flowers. If you are able to make it down to Calgary in the next little while I think it would be worthwhile to check out. It's free!

  27. @ Medi Cal -- Thanks so much for the info! This calls for a road trip SOON! Woo hoo, Calgary, here I come!

  28. Well, Thor (the real god Thor, not the Marvel travesty) did dress as a woman once. Trying to pass as Freya, no less.

  29. Lots of laughs, and a couple of head scratchers for me, Debra! I would love a library date like that. Sadly, Terry wouldn't. So I go to Barnes & Noble by myself. He would and has taken me to places like Pompeii and Angkor Wat. Now if he'd just get me to Petra! Happy Pride Month! Hugs to you, my friend!

Coffee is on, and stay safe.

  31. Thanks for the smiles..Enjoy Pride month!!!

  32. There is a lesbian flag too? Did I make the wrong one?

    ReplyDelete
  33. @ Lady M -- Oh no, you made exactly the right Pride Flag, the one that includes every group in the LGBTQ+ community! Every group does have its own specific flag too -- there's SO many of them, I can't keep them all in my head at once! The lesbian flag is not one I've ever used in my own life. Too much pink. Makes me think of Barbie's Dream Accessories, LOL

  35. I'd leave a longer comment, but I've got to go add more lesbians!

    ReplyDelete
  36. I will have to ask my future ex-wife Kat how I go about finding more lesbians. Sadly few are available these days. I want proper ones too no rubbish.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Post a picture on your blog of the labryinth if you decide to go!

    ReplyDelete
  38. @ Medi Cal -- Oh yes, I'll do a post all about the labyrinth, with photos. I hope to get to Calgary this weekend. Looking forward to it!

    ReplyDelete
  39. @ Medi Cal -- My post will be in early July once June's Translesbigayapalooza is over.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Yes, we must add some lesbians! More more more!
