Ready for the Playoffs

On the weekend, I schlepped down to the Oilers Official Team Store at ICE District Plaza beside Rogers Place arena and paid an absolute fortune for a new lucky t-shirt (pictured above) so I can spur on the Oilers to VICTORY in this year's Stanley Cup playoffs. I will wear it while watching their games on TV. The Oilers are currently playing the Los Angeles Kings in round one.

For good measure, I also bought an Oilers Pride t-shirt. The image on the front is a big oil drop in the Pride Flag colours. On the right sleeve there is a small team logo also in the Pride Flag colours. Personally, I would prefer to see those two images swap positions on the t-shirt but alas, the designers did not consult me in advance.

LET'S GO, OILERS!

  2. I love the Pride T-shirt and, yes, you should have been consulted. Great other T-shirt, too. Isn’t it funny how we pay a fortune for new T-shirts designed to look like old, worn-out T-shirts?

  7. The playoffs and this Stanley Cup think again. Is this some kind of high end drinking game with a cup named Stanley?

  8. Congratulations. Our city will have to wait until next year to see if the St. Louis Blues will do any better.

Men is sports uniforms romping on the ice? Yes.
And The Oiler's design is cute, but like you, I would have swapped them.
    Why didn't they call you????

  11. GO OILERS!

It sure would be great if they could end Canada's 31 year drought and win the Stanley Cup this year, but I'm not holding my breath.... as usual, I'll cheer for the Canadian teams until they all get eliminated, then cheer for the American team with the most Canadian players, LOL!

  12. Yes, I prefer the sleeve logo. Not only is it more clearly LGBTQ but a bit hippyish as well!

  13. Go Oilers! I don't get it, I don't understand Hockey at all, but if i if it is good enough for shewooseeks it is good enough for me. At least now I have a team to cheer for.
I'm glad that they wear some armor! That little puck rocketing around on the ice in a crowd of men with clubs makes me nervous.

  16. I'm seeing several local vehicles proudly displaying Oilers flags and although seeing flags on vehicles is quite triggering now, once I determine that it's not some convoy idiot, I take a breath and say yes, let's do this.

  19. I thought the Oilers badge said Queers. (Can I say that? I can, can't I?)

  20. @ Liz Hinds -- Yes, we've reclaimed that word these days! And you're right -- at a quick glance, it does look a bit like "queers."
