Here's my contribution to today's art prompt at
I did this "line and wash" ink and watercolours sketch
of pumpkins and gourds a couple of weeks ago
for an art class I'm currently taking.

And here's my fave pumpkins from this year's
jack-o-lantern decoration contest
done by tenants in my apartment tower
(slacker that I am, I didn't enter a pumpkin) --
A rather stressed-out Minion
A cute wee Pumpkin House,
complete with inhabitants and furniture.
Love the pie cooling on the windowsill!
An awesome carving of a
beloved family pet
Lookin' good, Frankie!
Here's my personal favourite
(and the contest's winner):
The Stanley Pumpkin!
Its sign says:
OILERS 2025
Play La Bamba, Baby!

And as today is October 31st,
HRH the Cat and I want to wish all of you --
Blessed Samhain! I LOVE the pumpkin art and, especially, your line and wash!
ReplyDeleteBlessed Samhain and Happy Halloween to you my friend. Thank you for all the hilarious posts this season. You keep me laughing! Your ink and color wash is beautiful.
ReplyDelete...pumpkins no longer come in just orange.
ReplyDeleteVey fun pumpkin art.
ReplyDeleteThe watercolor of pumpkin and squash is superb. I wish I had half your talent.
ReplyDeleteHello Debra, I am afraid that Taiwan has taken your Thursday With Rain theme too seriously--we have been having a terrible storm all day, with trees and large limbs down everywhere.
ReplyDelete.
I'm not trying to flatter, but as much as I love all the carved pumpkins, your pumpkin watercolor is the clear winner. The combinations of shapes and colors, and the almost brighter-than-real intensity of the colors, are perfection.

The pagans had it right, holidays and festivals every 6-7 weeks. Love the pumpkins.
ReplyDeleteYou may not have carved a Jack-o-lantern, but I think your watercolor makes up for it.
ReplyDeleteLove the Minion pumpkin.
ReplyDeletehappy halloween....80+ degrees here today. just shoot me now!
ReplyDeleteFor those that didn't know either... Halloween and Samhain are actually not the same and are considered to be miles apart in their traditions and practices.
ReplyDeleteWonderful pumpkins.
ReplyDeleteHappy Hallowe'en.
Blessed Samhain!
ReplyDeleteLove the Frankenstein pumpkin! And love the artwork.
XOXO
The Minion was a great decorating idea. Maybe the Stanley Cup will bring luck. Happy Hallowshamhain.
ReplyDeleteFantastics offerings today. Today, here in Trinidad and Tobago, it is a public holiday for the observancebof Divali: festival of lights
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by my blog
Much♡love
I love those. Happy Halloween! Have a great night and don't eat too much candy. :)
ReplyDelete🎃👻Happy Halloween🎃👻
ReplyDeleteI hope the Oilers bring home the Stanley Pumpkin for you!!
Lovely art and Halloween post Debra -Christine cmlk79.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteSo many cool pumpkins. I do like your picture. Very clever.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your Samhain
Your watercolour pumpkins and gourds are terrific! The jack-o-lantern entries you've highlighted are all deserving of a prize, but I really like the Stanley cup one too.
ReplyDeleteHave a fangtastic Halloween and Blessed Samhain, Debra... and HRH too, I guess...
Love the pumpkins! Have a great day, Debra!
ReplyDeleteI love your art piece!
ReplyDeleteYour artwork is vibrant and alive. Love it!
ReplyDeleteAnd a Happy Halloween to you and HRH, too.
ReplyDeleteHappy Halloween! Love your artwork, and your neighbor's pumpkins.
ReplyDeleteyour art is truly BEAUTIFUL as always dear Debra !
ReplyDeleteyou are such a gifted artist ,your dealing with light and shades is incredibly impressive :)
Line and wash pumpkins are THE VERY BEST!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the art piece, cute and colorful. Wow, people did a great job with decorating their pumpkins for the contest. The Stanley Cup is well done.
ReplyDeleteYour line and wash sketch is beautiful—such a perfect blend of ink and watercolor! It really captures the essence of fall. As a carpet cleaner, I’m always noticing the little details in homes, and your artwork brings that cozy, autumnal vibe that would make any space feel warm and inviting. And those jack-o-lanterns from the contest look so fun and creative! Even if you didn’t enter one, your pumpkin sketch definitely adds to the spirit of the season. Thanks for sharing your art journey!
ReplyDeleteYour art is terrific!
ReplyDeleteYour art date submission is so vibrant! Love it.
ReplyDeleteThe pumpkin skills in your building are impressive!
A Blessed Samhain to you, too, Debra!
In Mallorca, pumpkins are not usually used on Halloween, but children do enjoy collecting candy.
ReplyDeleteLove the pumpkins. Hope you had a good night.
ReplyDeleteI love your pumpkin and gourds watercolor! What a beautiful note card this would make. I am so envious of people who cannot only draw, but watercolor as well. That is something that I have tried with rather sorry results.
ReplyDeleteBelated happy Halloween!
ReplyDeleteYour painting is delightful and your contest pumpkins are a hoot ... especially the Stanley Cup trophy (I would have preferred to see Blackhawks on it, but then that happens so rarely, I can take joy in your winner this year. And, I hope you enjoyed Samhain ... are you secretly a wiccan? In any case, it is fun to learn about the different rituals celebrated around the world. Happy November (can you believe how fast this year has passed?)
ReplyDeleteAndrea @ From the Sol
@ Andrea @ From The Sol -- I'm not a Wiccan, but I have been an Eclectic Pagan for 35 years now, with a particular focus on the Goddess Path of the Divine Feminine. It works for me!
DeleteYour pumpkin painting rocks. I love it. Frankie is cool too. Such a fun holiday. Boogie, boogie.
ReplyDeleteYou've got some talented people in your block! I've seen few reels recently of people doing simple Christmas gift labels with water colour and ink. Very effective. Your pumpkin painting is great.
ReplyDeleteGreat art work. Love all the different pumpkins but the dog is my favourite of course
ReplyDeleteI hope your holiday was a happy haunted one.
ReplyDeleteLove all your fun pumpkins here but especially your painting!
ReplyDeleteThe pumpkins are fun, but your drawing/watercolor is AMAZING!! Bravo my friend.
ReplyDeletelove your watercolor, the sketchy lines just make it
ReplyDeleteLeeAnna
@ LA Paylor -- Thanks for noticing that! I'm indeed trying to adopt a looser, "sketchier" drawing style these days.
