For this week's Friday Face OFF link party
of art featuring faces, hosted by Nicole of
DVArtist, Art, Food, Gardening blog . . .
I'm trying to develop an art practice of
rapid sketches drawn directly in permanent ink
(no use of pencil or eraser, yikes) and then
painted with a quick watercolour wash.
I'm pleased with how this one turned out.
Who doesn't enjoy a nice
ice cream cone in the summer?
What's your favourite flavour?
Mine is tiger tiger
(also called tiger tail in
some parts of Canada).

Your 'Ice Cream Fan' is a great image - Rum & Raisin or
ReplyDeleteDamson & Sloe Gin are my favourite ice cream flavours.
Hello Debra, Well, specialty ice creams can be good, but in my ice-cream-eating days I always came back to a good vanilla or French vanilla. Of the flavored ones, my clear favorite was coffee.

Vegan chocolate....it is REALLY dark and chocolatey...not just for vegans! Combine that with a Mango sorbet....lush 😎🙂
ReplyDelete...ice cream can be an everyday treat!
ReplyDeleteOh, your ice cream eater exactly captures the necessity of attacking the cone in a manner to control the melting or dipping ice cream. Other desserts, like cake or cookies, will wait for you, but ice cream cones are by nature interactive and require some strategy. --Jim
ReplyDeleteI don't know that type of ice cream. I love coffee based ice creams, which aren't big any place but here in New England. Your sketch is fabulous Debra. I bet that lady is definitely enjoying her treat. Have a super weekend. hugs-Erika
ReplyDeleteReally nicely painted 🤩
ReplyDeleteHappy FFO 🍨
Very nicely done! For me, it's usually any flavor that includes chocolate. :)
ReplyDeleteMy favorites--that's a hard one. Rocky Road is one, as are Cookies and Cream, and Mint chocolate chip. And that's not all of them!
ReplyDeleteYour sketch came out terrific! Vanilla is my favorite ice cream flavor.
ReplyDeleteYou are amazing and brave! Turned out great!
ReplyDeleteI don’t have one favorite flavor. I have a LOT of favorite flavors. Your sketch is absolutely wonderful!
ReplyDeleteGood job. I've never met an ice cream I didn't like.
ReplyDeleteOMGosh this is excellent. I mean really well done. You are such a good artist. Thank you for sharing with FFO and have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteLovely art creation ~ very well done ~ hugs,

What a great sketch. My go to cone from Milky Way is pistachio
ReplyDeleteHe reminded me of Michael Moore. Now I need some ice cream.
ReplyDeleteVanilla, please. Dipped in chocolate of course.
ReplyDeleteThat's excellent! It's probably what I look like when I attack ice cream. I haven't heard of your ice cream flavor. My favorite has become vanilla because Costco's Kirkland brand has the best vanilla ice cream I've ever eaten. A bowl with 2 scoops and a little spash of chocolate syrup is divine.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
I clicked on your link. Orange with chocolate would be great, but I don't care for black licorice.
ReplyDeleteThe scene eating an ice cream is very enjoyable
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is sherbert, except I don't think I've ever had it on a cone, and don't know that it ever comes on a cone. So I'll say chocolate.
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of ice cream.
ReplyDeleteOh yes! I love that piece and I love that style. And hazelnut.
ReplyDeleteI can see why you're pleased with the sketch. I would be too. It has great personality and is so well done. Bravo!
ReplyDeleteI got fountain pens with a bend at the nib to learn more about line in sketching. I'm not in control for sure, but it all adds knowledge doesn't it? I think your portrait is spot on for some guy I must have seen, he looks familiar. Your shading is cool both pen and paint, all going together
ReplyDeleteWhat pen are you using? waterproof Pitt? Now I want to talk painting with you! LeeAnna at LAPaylor "at" gmail "dot" com
@ LA Paylor -- I'm not a fan of fountain pens/dip pens with nibs except for use in calligraphy. For sketching, I just use a permanent ink liner pen, either Faber-Castell Ecco Pigment pen (which is what I used for this one) or a Micron pen, usually 01 to 05 somewhere. But my current art teacher wants us to use nibs in sketching to produce more interesting line variations. So who knows? Perhaps I'll switch?
DeleteCan I use this for another Rick O'Shea adventure?
ReplyDelete@ The Blog Fodder -- Go right ahead! I look forward to seeing how the Ice Cream Fan interacts with Rick O'Shea!
DeleteI love it. I like chocolate with chocolate fudge.
ReplyDeleteBloody amazing 👏
ReplyDeleteYou missed a great opportunity to do a portrait of yourself enjoying Tiger Tiger ice cream!
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of this flavor; hey! I learned something!
ReplyDeletePerfect
ReplyDeleteI can't choose. Something with chocolate, probably.
ReplyDeleteTurned out great Deb..I can’t draw!!!.You do the ink drawing..I’ll do the water color..Of course , you can do both!!
ReplyDelete@ This N That -- You know I would kill for your watercolour skill! Hey, I made a poem!
Deletewow !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletei am glad how you have done this my friend ! you really totally Rock !
it truly shows how one enjoys the ice cream :)
