For this week's Friday Face OFF link party
of art featuring faces, hosted by Nicole of
DVArtist, Art, Food, Gardening blog . . .
I've just started taking a
"Portraits in Coloured Pencils" class.
Our first assignment was to reproduce
a recent photo of the British singer Adele.
I don't know how good or close a likeness
I achieved, but it seems to me that
she DOES look suitably sad.
And isn't that Adele's calling card?
Are you a fan of her music?
I can't say I'm familiar with a lot of it.
I'm more of a Lady Gaga girl, myself.

you've obviously got an eye and a talent - keep it up!!
ReplyDeleteHi Debra, I found the original of your drawing, and you nailed it exactly--hair, profile, makeup, mien. The hair looks so natural and good, that I am sure if Adele saw it she would immediately hire you for her hairdresser.
ReplyDelete--Jim
I am a fan and that looks just like her. Damn Debra. I love seeing your art. Happy Spring. Happy Weekend.
ReplyDeleteThe coloured pencil drawing featuring Adele is exquisite. I knew it was her immediately without having to look at your wording - very well done.
ReplyDeleteI am a fan of your drawing
ReplyDelete...and I'm a Janis Joplin kinda guy!
ReplyDeleteI looked at your drawing before reading all your words and my first thought was: ADELE! You did a great job; she's a fabulous artist with an amazing voice.
ReplyDeleteI adore Adele. I think she has a wonderful voice and many songs that bring a tear to my eye.
ReplyDeleteAnd if you hadn't said that was Adele, I would have known it was her; I think you did a wonderful job.
That does look like Adele. My favorite song by her has always been the first I heard her do, "Rolling in the Deep". I sing along loudly whenever I hear it on my car radio. :)
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely looks like her. Yep, huge fan. Wanted to see her during her Vegas residency, but I needed both arms and legs more than I needed to see her in concert.
ReplyDeleteOhhh very nice!
ReplyDeleteLove Adele! And love the contrast between her awesome singing voice and her riotous speaking voice.
Sheβs my replacement Amy Winehouse, btw. Just because.
XOXO
Beautiful work. I do know Adele and many of her songs, I just go with those who have beautiful voices and lyrics.
ReplyDeleteWell done.
Gorgeous painting of Adele ππΌπ
ReplyDeleteI don't known about her privit life, but she has got many international πfor her music as a Grammy.... e.t.c
Have a wonderfu weekend ππΌπ
I am not really a fan but I have heard her hits. Nice likeness - I knew immediately who it was.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful portrait art work ~ Wow!

Well done, I love working with my coloured pencils.
ReplyDeleteVery well done!!! And bit sad-looking indeed.
ReplyDeleteYou're an excellent artist. I love both Adele and Lady Gaga.
ReplyDeleteI don't know Adele, but your portrait of her is fabulous, love it Hugs!
ReplyDeleteWell done... I can't do faces. I must say that I have not tried very hard because I never succeed. Looks just like Adele. To me her music sounds pretty much the same... Recognizable.. but I'm not familiar with very much of it. Enjoy your weekend.
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautiful portrait of Adele -- the hair and skin shading is perfect!! I've heard her sing on TV, but I'm not a big fan of Adele or Lady Gaga either.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what Adele looks like but I do like your drawing -- it's lovely and your technique is really nice! Thanks for popping in today!
ReplyDeleteWow, that came out great.
ReplyDeleteI think you nailed it! She does look like Adele.
ReplyDeleteI do like her music, and my daughter is a big fan. Last year she saw Adele live in Munich and she really enjoyed the concert. She sent me a lot of pictures and short videos, and during her performance she wasn't sad at all - she was actually quite funny.
Beautifully done, Debra. I like Gaga too.
ReplyDeleteYou have definitely captured her essence. Yes her music is a tad depressing
ReplyDeleteShe definitely looks like Adele. What a great drawing. Have a super weekend!
ReplyDeleteI prefer Lady Gaga, too, but it's a good drawing nonetheless.
ReplyDeleteAwesomely done π―π€π₯°β₯οΈ
ReplyDeleteShe looks sad I agree but no one can doubt her aliveness π₯°β₯οΈβ₯οΈβ₯οΈ
You have brought her to life with your magic of art my brilliantly talented friend Debra ππβ₯οΈ
Beautiful job on the portrait. I am not familar with Adele's music. I suppose I should go off to YouTube and remedy that.
ReplyDeleteI immediately knew it was Adele, and she is difficult I think for portraits because she has very regular features. I love her music.
ReplyDeleteWell done it does look like her.
ReplyDeleteI of course have heard of Adele but not a fan of her music. I'm not sure if your art is a likeness or not, however, the piece of art is stunning. You have a special talent and it lends over to color. Thank you for sharing with FFO.
ReplyDeleteA fantastic rendering of Adele! Instantly recognizable. If you are ever in need of a good cry, she is your therapeutic trigger.
ReplyDeleteVery good, you nailed it!
ReplyDeleteJust the little image in the preview on my blog feed i thought that was Adele. You did a GREAT job! ~*~
ReplyDeleteYou captured Adele, Debra! I enjoy both Adele and Lady Gaga, as well as a lot of talented female singers.
ReplyDeleteDang. That's good.
