Strategic Voting For The Win!

Because of American threats against Canadian economic and political sovereignty, the Liberal Party won in yesterday's federal election. As of this moment it is still unclear whether it will be a majority or a minority government, as some close ridings are still in play. The Liberals were able to win because the Bloc Québécois vote in Quebec and the progressive NDP vote across Canada went over in droves to the Liberals due to strategic voting.

I'm relieved that Prime Minister Mark Carney will be the one to deal with the difficult times ahead. He has an impeccable resume of calm and competent crisis management, having been Governor of the Bank of Canada during a previous recession and Governor of the Bank of England during Brexit. He has first class international contacts, connections and respect. He is not hindered by extremist ideology.

In any other set of circumstances but the current one of American aggression, Pierre Poilievre's Conservative Party would have won. They may well eventually win an election which, in my opinion, would not be good news for Canada. The party is too dominated by "Maple MAGAs" enamoured of extremist right-wing views and policies. I predict an imminent internal power struggle within its ranks now that Poilievre has lost. The ugly cracks were already showing during the campaign. Before the next election, I'm also counting on everyday Canadian voters learning a valuable lesson from watching the ongoing MAGA destruction of the political, economic, and social fabric of the United States, with its inevitable catastrophic consequences.

In the meantime, Canadians and its new government need to get on with the crisis at hand.

Superheroes aren't just kid stuff, you know.

We're never too old to want to be superheroes!

This next lady is known as The Dark Knit, LOL!

So what are we waiting for?
Pick a superhero name and let's get started!

I'm "The Bot-Brain Bot," it appears.

What's your superhero name?

Friday Face OFF -- Mr Moustache

For this week's Friday Face OFF link party
of art featuring faces, hosted by Nicole of

Another completed assignment from
the "Portraits in Coloured Pencils" class.

Mr Moustache was just chock-a-block full
of challenging things to do -- his head scarf turban,
wrinkles, a bushy moustache, and that turkey neck!

He turned out a lot better than I thought he
was going to at various points in the process.

My own turkey neck is starting to develop
now that I'm aging. So far, it's still just
little baby turkey wattles but they've been
getting more pronounced over the past year.

Is turkey neck something you deal with too?

I'm Not Cheap, I'm Thrifty . . . D'oh!

I know you'll all be thrilled to hear that Round 1 of this year's 4 rounds of the Stanley Cup Playoffs has now started, and that the Edmonton Oilers are once again making a run for the Cup (in Round 1, they're playing the Los Angeles Kings, as per usual).

You may remember that last year I shelled out a positively obscene amount of money to buy a lucky official NHL t-shirt to spur my team on to victory --

But I'm one smart cookie, see? I don't need to spend that kind of money again this year, thanks to my trusty black Sharpie --

Alas, though, my clever thriftiness has been summarily thwarted by an unexpected development!

My other beloved hockey team, the Winnipeg Jets (who have been #1 all season and are playing the St. Louis Blues in Round 1) have just recently acquired a new player from the Seattle Kraken -- Brandon Tanev, one of my favourite Hockey Hair Gods. Here's his new official player photo wearing a Jets jersey while sporting his trademark stunned expression --

This unexpected development has now forced me -- forced me, I tellz ya -- to shell out another positively obscene amount of money to buy a new lucky Jets t-shirt to wear while watching their games too.

Jeez, has the NHL tagged me as a pathetically easy fleeceable pushover or what? (Rhetorical question only, NO need to answer it, thank you very much).
