Summer Solstice is here again!
You think I'm a day early with this post, don't you? Hee hee! Well, I'm not. *sticks out tongue*
Summer Solstice arrives on Friday, June 21, 2013 at 5:04 a.m. UTC (Coordinated Universal Time, the successor to what we used to call Greenwich Mean Time). Because of the time zone difference, it means that the Summer Solstice arrives here in Alberta on Thursday, June 20, 2013 at 11:05 p.m. tonight. So we get a jump on the rest of youse guys. And of course, we really get a jump on those of you in the southern hemisphere welcoming the Winter Solstice today/tomorrow, LOL!
But no matter when you celebrate --

ReplyDeleteHappy solstice for tomorrow! I will celebrate it before you, as I am actually in the UK. It is the Southern Emisphere's winter solstice today.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder. I LOVE summer, and I never knew why some people declare the solstice today vs. tomorrow. So thank you for the explanation too.
ReplyDeleteHappy Solstice, Debra!

Deb
grumble, whinge, moan, bitch, whine- Winter Solstice has really kicked in here- friggin' freezing - enjoy your celebrations x
ReplyDeleteJust as the summer soltice starts tonight, the Bow River will reach its peak height and the flooding can really get a grip! Yay - lovely summer weather here down south! Have a good (dry) one Debra.
ReplyDeleteyay!
ReplyDeletewe're finally getting spring - at the end of spring - ok, mid 20s is summer weather - but it's been crazy; back in may, we had a heatwave with temps in the high 20s - low 30s
at least nite temps are in teens, which allows for good sleep - but it won't last - natch
Great minds think alike, I say modestly - I just emailed my friend wishing a happy anniversary to her and her wife because it's the solstice in the UK, where they live.
ReplyDeleteHappy Summer Solstice, Debra!:)
ReplyDeleteI absolutely loved the glass Sun in the first picture!
And wishing you a very happy Winter Solstice from the other side of the equator!
ReplyDeleteI started celebrating last night, and continued today. I'm still celebrating, but I'm running out of papaya, mango and oranges... must alter the centers of my attentions ;-)
