Updated Nativity Scenes

In 13th century Italy, St. Francis of Assisi started the tradition of nativity scenes so that people would identify more with the true meaning of Christmas.

But hey, that was then and this is now. Everything's gotta move with the times, man --

So make your own nativity scene relevant to our modern society!

Even fanboys and nerds need salvation. You can't just rely on a motley crew of characters from Star Trek, Star Wars and cartoons. Or can you?

THIS stable made it all the way to Oz apparently. No, not Australia!

Of course the feckin' Irish always have to make it all about THEM --

And finally . . . .

Hail Mary, full of grace! Blessed art thou amongst women and blessed is the Grumpy Cat of thy womb.

Oh yeah, SOMEBODY'S gonna burn in hell for that one alright.

  5. How is the internet still working after Aubrey Plaza posed with Grumpy Cat? The one with all of the action figures is fraught with errors, but I'll put my geek anger away for now.

  10. Hahahaha you got me with the Irish one. When it comes to religion we do think we are Gods chosen people. We're not producing Priests like we used to though. We're actually now having them imported from other countries now. And it's a real problem as we can't understand their fecking accents :0)

  12. Now brace yourself, but would you believe I used to put a nativity up for years? Only reason was because it reminded me of my young childhood. Still have it, but it hasn't seen the light of day for a while now. And you can't forget about a all Smurf nativity....i saw one once.

  16. Poor pagan children, ie Ry. We were at a junk store. The cute donkey from the nativity was right as we went in the door. Ry said, hey Oma, let's buy this cute donkey. I explained we would have to buy the whole set in order to get the donkey. Ry said, but why would we need a baby, and who is he anyway? Then I said, And where's the lightening coming from????? Love these nativity groupings. Aim for their heads, what's your name again?

By the way, last December I posted pictures of traveling cats that found a warm spot inside a nativity scene in New York. It reminded me a little of some of these.
