For this week's Friday Face OFF link party
of art featuring faces, hosted by Nicole of
DVArtist, Art, Food, Gardening blog . . .
From Ye Olde Cobwebby Archives
comes this charcoal drawing I did
fifty-one years ago in 1974
when I was still in high school.
Positively yellow with age it is!
At that time I was an absolute fanatic for Renaissance Art.
One of my favourites was this piece by the
German artist Albrecht Durer -- "Young Hare, 1502."
Doing a "sort and cull" recently on a battered box
of ancient stuff belonging to my Mom, I found
my old drawing again, saved by her all those years.
So now I'm sharing it with you!

...mom's love to save special things!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful but a hare? I think reader Tundra would rather see a Tundra Bunny.
ReplyDeleteI envy your artistic ability. My dad was an artist but made a living as a sign painter. My sister and brother got more of the art genes than I did. Oh well. Keep up the great art.
ReplyDeleteAwwe, sweet little bunny.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great drawing, and it must have been fun to find it after all these years. I was in high school in 1974 also, and in some ways, it doesn't seem so long ago, but it sure was, wasn't it? Have a super weekend.
ReplyDeleteA nice mom, saving a good drawing, awwww.
ReplyDeleteI have stick figures drawings my dad saved and had on his bulletin board in his office still to this day. Such wonderful memories!
ReplyDeleteWonderful drawing!
Nice to find those old treasures. Thanks for sharing your talent with us.
ReplyDeleteA great drawing 👍🏼
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend 🐰🌞
Wow, you were very talented at an early age!
ReplyDeleteSweet your Mom kept it!!
So you've always been an artist. It's a beautiful drawing.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love it!
ReplyDeleteAnd I can see the influence.
And the seventies, huh? Whoa.
XOXO
You always been a great artist!! :)

I love the hare, too, you really did it justice. Have a great weekend, hugs!
ReplyDelete🐇 Snarky bunny! And perfect for today! 🏒🏆🇨🇦 Congratulations to Canada for winning the 4 Nations FaceOff!! Beating the USA!! I love that the singer of "O Canada," Chantal Kreviazuk, changed the lyric from "true patriot love in all of us command" to "true patriot love in ONLY US command!" ✊️👏 And kudos to Justin Trudeau for his immediate twiXt: "You can’t take our country — and you can’t take our game!" 🤣🤣🇨🇦🇨🇦
ReplyDelete@ Cleora Borealis -- Yes, how sweet it is! Or as my sister said to me in a post-game email -- SUCK ON THAT, TKACHUKS!
DeleteYour 'after Dürer' piece from high school is stunning. I so enjoy Dürer, by the way. He was truly ahead of his time.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I saw your drawing Albrecht Durer's hare immediately sprung to mind - well done Debra.
ReplyDeleteLovely art Debra
ReplyDeleteExcellent. Next you should do a tundra bunny!
ReplyDeleteit sure was nice to see a snow white hare leaping from the heather on the moorland yesterday!! couldn't grab a camera in time.... sorry
ReplyDeleteIt looks great. And how lovely your mum saved it I bet she treasured it every time she looked at it
ReplyDeleteLots of natural artistic ability there, even in high school... too bad you had to put art on the back burner to make a living as an ugh, lawyer, LOL!
ReplyDeleteLooks like the hare in my parents' garden. Gorgeous hares.
ReplyDeleteWow! That is amazing that you still have this fabulous piece of art. You were a star back then too. Thank you for sharing with FFO.
ReplyDeleteLove the bunnies!
ReplyDeleteI see you trimmed the bunnies nails.
