Friday Face OFF -- A Well-Known Actor

For this week's Friday Face OFF link party
of art featuring faces, hosted by Nicole of

Here's a freehand ink and ink wash portrait
done in art class this week based on a
xeroxed photo provided by the instructor.
As you can tell, I misjudged the image's
placement on the page, so you're seeing
the sketch book's coil binding too.

I don't know how truly accurate a portrayal this is
of the actor in question, but if you want
to take a stab at guessing who it is, go ahead!

I'll hold back any comments
with correct answers until tomorrow,
when all shall be revealed and Gold Stars
awarded to anyone who gets it right!

  2. I was thinking Nicholas cage too.

  3. That is really good! And I think the coils actually make the portrait more interesting beside it.

The hair and eyebrow is all wrong for him, but for some reason Robert Downey Jr was the first thing that popped in my mind.

  9. He looks like my favorite actor Joh Bernthal from American Gigolo series.

  10. Looks sorta like Daniel Day-Lewis to me. I also find it very hard to see the gigantic E on the eye chart. So, there's that.

  11. Sorry to say, but your "misjudgement" makes the work TOP!
Not a guess who it is but I love the mixed style. A very young Gerard Depardieu?
Guess my comment will pop up immediately...

  12. I can't even hazard a guess. And I'm with Maddie - the coils add to the work.

πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜  What a rollercoaster you put me on..."I know, wait, I know, I doubt." My final answer is Warren Beatty. 😬🀞

  17. First, the portrait is wonderfully executed. I am getting so many different actors so I will not take a guess. Please tell us who it is. Thank you for sharing with FFO and have a nice weekend.

  18. It looks like one of the Soviet players from the 1972 Russia-Canada Summit series, but then I reread your post and it's not a hockey player, LOL! Back to the drawing board for me...

  19. It's a fantastic portrait, all brooding and surly. I'm not good at actors but I'm going to guess Ralph Fiennes... (shrug)

  25. Steven Segal (spelling?)

  26. He reminds me of Humphrey Bogart!!
    The head and the hair!
    Nice challenge Debra,
    your drawing is very beautiful!!

  27. Hi Debra, If this is a recent actor, I would have no way of knowing. It certainly isn't William Powell or Richard Barthelmess! Your portrait does have the uncanny look of illustrating a particular person, so I am looking forward to the answer so we can compare!

  28. I'm not really up on actors, but wow, what a fabulous face! The lips remind me of a young Brando though.
