Feel Like a Good Read?

What better way to make it through January than by reading a funny and thought-provoking book? Blogging buddy Rawknrobyn of Life by Chocolate: Robyn Alana Engel's Blog has just published an awesome sequel to her first book of memoirs, Woman on the Verge of Paradise, which came out a few years ago.

Robyn's new sequel is entitled InSanity and I had the pleasure of reading it in manuscript form, so my recommendation comes from my own enjoyment of it. The book is a roller coaster ride of often humorous, sometimes poignant, vignettes from Robyn's life -- oddball boyfriends, weird roommates, WTF workplaces and colleagues, and deeper explorations of issues too often ignored in our society concerning mental illness and suicide. Robyn's writing style is delightfully colloquial, easy and fun to read, yet she deals with important and serious issues in a thoughtful and meaningful way.

Even Her Royal Highness the Cat recommends this book! And you know she never promotes anything except herself!

InSanity is available in paperback and Kindle format here on Amazon.

This sounds like something I could also enjoy.

Happy new year to HRH; I hope she's just as hard to please as she was last year.

I love her and her blog!!!! I could most definitely knock back a few drinks with her..she is a hoot. Now i wonder if there are other avenues to get the book? You know I despise Amazon. But if I absolutely have too......

@ Mistress Maddie -- Amazon is the only source for the book of which I'm aware.

I buy books and set them in my "I need to read these one day" stack. I guess I'll add this one too.

I will take HRH’s word for it (OK, yours, too). I read Robyn when she was On the Verge of Paradise. Next up InSanity.

Dearest HRH and Debra and all who commented,
I'm blown away by your wonderful, warmloving support.
I imagine HRH enjoyed the scenes with Mojo the (dark beautiful, single) male cat?

I WISH it wasn't (as of yet) ONLY on Amazon. I really do. I understand your hating it, MM. Unfortunately, Amazon has succeeded in monopolizing self publishing. Ideally and eventually, I might be able to branch out to Barnes and Noble, etc.

To all of you with ever growing stacks of "to read" stacks, I know. It's a curse and a blessing. So much reading, so little time. If it helps, and I'm biased, my writing style is fast paced.

Love and gratitude to you all, especially HRH for risking her reputation by promoting InSanity, unsolicited too.

You are simply mahvelous!

Maybe it is my nature, but uplifting books don't appeal to me. The same with movies.
I am now reading Volume 1 of The Gulag Archipelago. My wife got gave me the two volumes of Solzhenitsyn's as a Solstice present. I have read them before, but many years ago. I also, at my request, received five books of Farley Mowat's stories that I will reread - I guess you could call them uplifting. I also received The Complete Fiction of H. P. Lovecraft and a book of Fairy Tales of the Brother's Grimm. I think my winter pandemic reading list is fulfilled.
As Her Royal Highness knows, winter is the time for reading; but so the spring, summer and fall.

I have read her blog in the past. I don't know if the blogging got her started or she had already written a book. Either way I think being able to write a book is an amazing task.

Thank you, wonderful people. Debra and HRH have the best friends. Well, at least Debra does. I don't know about HRH, except that she has impeccable taste.

OlBuzzard, I'm no fan of corny sap myself. My book has plenty of darkness too, as does life itself. Weirdly, as I was approaching the end of my writing journey, a very nice and not weird man entered the scene in real life. It's a memoir. So I had to be honest and a little bit corny about that. =)

Thank you, Bill. My blog followers have played a big part in my feeling confident and motivated enough to write a book. It IS a monumental slog (for me, at least). But a worthy one.

Virtual hugs to all and gratitude to everyone who's checking this one out.

Love to Debra and HRH.

I have a bit of Amazon money leftover from my holiday gifts. After reading the description, I think I can make room on my kindle for this.
