Celebrating Robbie Burns Day & All Things Scottish

A mural of the National Poet of Scotland
in Kilmarnock, Scotland --

But we love them all the same!

Robbie Burns Day, Is It?

Then it's time
to make fun of
the Scottish again!

My Scottish ancestors are probably
rolling over in their graves, but
hopefully it's with laughter!

Scotland Forever, Och Aye

Robbie Burns Day is this Thursday so you know what that means! Yes, it is once again time to celebrate all things Scottish on this blog! But I'm afraid my Scottish meme pickins are pretty slim this year --

Yup, that's it. Three little memes. I'll just have to pad out the rest of this post with whisky memes! That works well enough in this context, I'm sure you agree.

Happy Robbie Burns Day!

Och aye, it's time again to celebrate whisky, kilts and bagpipes!

Apparently, "whisky" is an old gaelic word for "the water of life" or "soup of the day" or something. Whatever!

Here's some upscale, value-added whisky soup!

Be sure to brush your teeth afterwards . . .

. . . because you never know when you might be called upon to kiss a half-naked man in a kilt. But why are this guy's hands so white?  Did he wash them too soon after the spray tan was applied?

This is the Scottish pipe band known as the "Marilyn Monroe Highlanders."

Oh, those nimble fingers! *wink*

This brings a tear to my eye . . . .

Oh, thought I couldn't work superheroes into this post? Think again!

I think we can all tell who the winner is here!

It's Robbie Burns Day!

Och aye, lassies and laddies, 'tis time once again to celebrate the birthday of Scotland's greatest poet. So in the spirit of the Bard hisself, here's my wee annual collection of Scottish LOLs to tickle yer haggis.

It goes without saying that EVERYBODY is Scottish on Robbie Burns Day --

And it's the one day of the year that men can safely wear a skirt in even the most macho of cultures --

Now, WHY are Scots such badasses? Surely the answer is obvious. It's their take-no-prisoners approach to life --

A few months ago, Scotland held a referendum on independence from the U.K. Let's just say the results were not QUITE as expected.

Well, at least they saved the Union Jack.

The referendum demonstrated that there's always hard lessons to be learned in this life.

Now be off with ye or I swear to God I'll start singing "Ye Banks and Braes o' Bonnie Doon" in my best fake Scottish accent. And none of us wants that.
