Everyone can learn from
THIS supportive parent!
Oh, thought I couldn't work
superheroes into this post?
Well, think again!
In a recent Superboy storyline,
Clark Kent and Lois Lane are
very supportive parents of their
bi son Jonathan Kent . . .
Earlier this month, Bill Lisleman of
A Few Clowns Short blog
alerted me to a recent twitter fight about
Wonder Woman -- here's the scoop!

Yay Wonder Woman!
Love the parking quip, made my morning.
OMG
The range of emotions! From almost crying at that tweet of the father driving the partner, to the parents and their bet over their child coming out, to the stop motion short, to Wonder Woman...!
You've given me everything I needed for the weekend!
Happy Pride!
XOXO
I love all of these. Reminds me of a convo I had at the studio, years ago, with a widowed friend, who asked me something about gay rights. And I said I think it's all about civil rights. Whereupon she came out to me. I was so happy that she felt she was safe to do that.
It all starts at home. If we are made to feel loved and comfortable being ourselves at home, then we find it easier to be that out in the world.
"I refuse to be my child's first bully." WHOOSH So profound! That speaks deeply to me. And I never thought a stop motion video would make me emotional...but there you have it! *sniff*
I wish everyone had a good experience coming out. Have a great day today.
Yes yes yes to all of the above!
I fear I may have been my trans daughters first bully. Not overtly but quietly, by not openly speaking out and pushing back on the narrowness in my community, family and, unfortunately, even my own thoughts. I have never been one to be mean but being quiet speaks volumes.
I am reformed and, thankfully, long before my daughter came out, so that when she did, there was no question in her mind what she would get from me. LOVE.....that's all I have.
I LOVE YOUR BLOG DEBRA! You've taught me so much.
All good, but I especially like the first one!
One of the reasons I chose Alexander for my son is that he'll be called Alex and if he happens to be trans in the future, the name can remain except it'd be Alexandra instead. Granted it could go a totally different direction name wise but I set a path.
$10 bet. HA!
now there's a super hero.
Is there even one reader of yours who still thinks you cannot work superheroes into any one of your posts? You could make some innocent post about filing your toenails into razor-sharp lesbian death talons and somehow a member of the MCU would show up, probably kissing another member of the MCU.
Great post today, Deb! Just the right mix of humour and poignancy -- loved the Godzilla clip!
@ Old Lurker -- Are you telling me that my schtick is getting old? And how the hell did YOU know about my razor-sharp lesbian death talons?
@ Old Lurker -- I'm glad YOU have the GUTS to tell her to knock it off with the SUPERHEROES already, for gawd's sake. I'm so SICK of Steve 'n Bucky I could just PUKE UP A MILLION HAIRBALLS.
Oh, Debs. Your schtick will never get old. We all adore you and look forward to every sighting of Luke Cage and the Iron Fist canoodling in your posts. Please don't slash me with your lesbian death-talons.
HRH's schtick, on the other hand...
@ Old Lurker -- Oh, it's like THAT, is it? FINE. You are DEAD to me now.
@ Her Royal Highness and @ Old Lurker -- Now, now, let's all just stay supportive friends and allies to each other, shall we? No one is dead to anyone else.
I just don't understand the hostility against gay superheroes all of a sudden. I mean they feature musclebound men wearing tights, FFS! They hide their true identity! It's not like they ever were a model of heterosexuality before.
Some very touching memes today Debs. And I just adore Lynda Carter. He is such a hip human!!!!
Wonder Debra. Thanks.
Wonder Woman sure is hot, and smart too.
Love the Matt tweet. And the betting one.
So good. My child’s first bully really shook me.
I'm not surprised you worked in a superhero. Only that this time they're actually DC superheroes. You seem to favor Marvel.
Anyway, they're not quite superheroes, but what about Xena and Gabrielle?
@ Kirk -- You're right, I'm a Marvel fan rather than a DC fan but I do keep up with the basics of DC characters. I loved the fact that Xena and Gabrielle were shipped as a lesbian couple but (and this will probably get my lesbian card revoked) I'm not a big fan of the original TV show "Xena, Warrior Princess." I tried watching it once but it was so badly written, so badly acted and just so stupid that I just couldn't bring myself to watch it again. Apologies to any Xena fans out there!
WW=weight watchers..LOL
I would like a button with the I AM AN ALLY graphic, but I'd draw a red line through CRAZY.
YAY WOnder WOman!
I loved the Sesame Street Tweet too; so lovely!
Beautiful assemblage of funny and thoughtful memes. Tugging on the ol' heartstrings there...
E
Wonder woman! I have not thought of her in ages! I thought her a good kick-butt woman. I admire that sort.
I have a similar sesame street pride pic and now you've scooped me. Damn you!
I love Lynda's tweets and posted them all over Facebook.

As an Ally, I love this! Acceptance and love are so simple.
Everyone should have equal rights! That feels very much under assault where I am. Thanks you for lifting my spirits with this uplifting post, Debra! It's hard for me to imagine all that you have been through during your life. I really appreciate how you speak out! Hugs to you!
I love that there is more representation these days!
Thank you for the very first meme. That is me.
*grins* I have Wonder Woman workout clothes.
