@ Liz Hinds -- I honestly don't know. I suspect the photo is from a real ad, but surely the caption is not. Even in simpler times, surely that would have been too noticeably risqué, I would think.
When I was 14, my family drove from New York City to Miami Beach. We stayed overnight in South Carolina and had dinner. A man came in who looked exactly like Colonel Sanders... white suit, tie, glasses, goatee and mustache. He refused to be served by a black waiter. 1968. The manager told him to leave. I can’t get that experience out of my head when I see The Colonel.
reading the above comments answered my question. Thanks Old Lurker.
I stopped at the first KFC in Kentucky. It wasn't called that in the beginning. I recall he started with motel and gas station. The Kentucky colonel is a real thing. The state recognized him for his business success.
those really made me laugh..the other day coming back from the grands I stopped and got KFC, first I've had in many many years...got it home and opened up the box and thought what the fuck? the skin was limp and had slid off the chicken..the french fries were limp and raw..hard to do...only thing edible was the roll...maybe if they paid decent wages the food would be better.
And here I thought you were debuting Mistress Maddie in his new job! There's been a talent search underway for some months now for a new Colonel Sanders and Maddie would be so much better at it than Reba McIntyre...
There's been so many different actors playing Sanders in commercials over the years that's it easy to forget that, unlike Betty Crocker, he was a real person. He died in 1980.
That chicken isn't what it used to be. It's gone the way of McDonalds fries.
I had a beau whose family started the chain, I think. He wasn't at all cute (the guy). I imagine Colonel Sanders dressed like the last photo in private. With special sauce on the side.
Haven't been on blogger for so long, I almost feel too guilty, to come here now, friend Debra. Anyway, two major things happened here in the middle of nowhere ... First things first ... My first grand child was born 07/ 07 and weighed in as 8 lbs 8 oz. Her name is Olive Summer :) Too bad, I cannot send a pic on here. Secondly, we finished the shell of our yurt:) Video is included.https://youtu.be/7wdw1JfW46o :) Hope, you are enjoying the typical AB summer. Sending love, cat.
I remember when Kentucky Fried...first changed their name. Was it that they thought folk wouldn't want to buy their fried chicken if they saw the word 'chicken' in the name? I still wonder about that.
@ Cat -- Congrats on your first grandbaby! I bet she's just too cute for words and you dote on her completely! And thanks for the video of your yurt construction -- it looks awesome. What a wonderful project to undertake! I once attended a hand drum making workshop in rural Alberta that took place in a yurt. It was a great space!
But have you seen the romantic movie, A Recipe for Seduction, starring Mario Lopez playing Colonial Sanders??? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGUMA2LwskQ
LOL, I have been swayed away from the Colonial's arms by the charms of a different KFC, Korean fried chicken. If you haven't tried it yet, you really should!

Those are brilliantly funny, and I give props to the person in the last one having the...well, you know...in dressing up like that publicly.
Very good! Is that a real Christmas advert?!

@Liz Hinds: As usual, Auntie Debra appears to be correct. The 1960s ad can be seen here: http://neatdesigns.net/15-fabulous-ads-from-the-1960s-series-finale/.
However, there is another version of the fake ad which is much more lascivious: https://www.reddit.com/r/funny/comments/a81y2f/kfc_was_pretty_lit_back_in_the_day/
Where do you find this stuff? This is such a good mix of one subject. The book and the three-way made me giggle. So funny.
Lol. I’ve never seen the colonel this way before.
Thot Sanders is something I'd never thought I'd see
@ Old Lurker -- Thanks for finding the original ad!
@ Leanna -- Oh, I have a million sources and sites! But I must credit Mistress Maddie's blog as being the source of that fab drag queen photo!

So yellowdoggranny - you're really saying the Colonel's holiday three way is nothing but some limp raw skin? Not at all what was promised.
This brightens up the day for me. Love all the jokes in these witty pics!

Have not been a fan of KFC since becoming sick from a bucket, back in the 70's. Actually, the last of many buckets.
Maru! I love Maru! These made me laugh... thanks, Debra!

KFC is the only business that can get 12 pieces of chicken out of an 8 piece standard chicken.
I haven't bought food from a KFC outlet for over 30 years and don't plan to. I can cook my own chicken.
11 herbs and spices, make it
I've not had KFC in many, many years. The Colonel had a very interesting life.

You never fail to amaze me with these posts! LOL!
haha.. how do you even find these. Brilliant.
Pretty funny. I have only eaten KFC once, that is all it took. Never again. LOL
Do they still have KFC, here in the States?
I remember going to Stratford ON and there was one.
In Japan KFC is a big deal at Christmas time.
"I have more leg then a bucket of chicken"

Never thought there could be this much humour with KFC! You always delightfully amaze me!

@ Bea -- My theory is that they were trying to hide or at least downplay the word "Fried" because of its unhealthy connotations.
OMG ~ Now I've seen everything! ~ lol! I haven't had KFC in years. You've set off a craving, Debra!
Love the chicken coop and the three way. Stealing both

@ Rommy -- Oh, that is too, TOO funny, lol! Thanks for the link! It fits in with this post PERFECTLY!
