I'm taking liberties today with Rain's art prompt of "library" so that I can show you some of my recent artworks which don't otherwise fit that theme.
A course last month called Birds in Watercolour Pencil resulted in only a couple of decent efforts worth posting. Here they are --
Western Tanager
Brown Pelican
And then there's this deathless work of beauty and genius --
Angry Hummingbird
Giving Evil Eye
To Entire World
I've just started a new course called Drawing Wildlife in Graphite. This is our first animal, which turned out well enough.
Bobcat
Two recent workshops involving coloured pencils also resulted in a couple of efforts that I'm happy with --
Lotus / Waterlily
(although I regret the
badly rendered background)
Red Fox on a Snowy Day
(I'm very pleased with this one!)

Wow, this artwork is amazing. You're getting really good I'll tell you. When these go to auction, I'm putting my bid in already for the birds and fox!
I am in solidarity with the hummingbird.
"Watercolor pencil"? That means you use pencils to look like watercolors, which if I remember correctly is your favorite medium in the world?
wow, just wow!!!
Great talent, thanks for sharing
@ Old Lurker -- Watercolour pencils are watercolour paint in pencil form. You apply it to the paper like you're colouring and then use water to activate its paint characteristics. I thought it might be an easier medium to use than watercolour paint in its traditional form, but I was wrong. All watercolour paint is a sonovabitch.
You truly are talented!
Loves it!
You know how deathly jealous I am of people with talent. I especially like the Western Tanager and the Lotus!!!
And I did not know you actually had to apply water to pencil watercolors!!
XOXO
They are all good. That first one with the bird, the waterlily one and the last fox one are especially well done.
Have a lovely day.
These are really terrific! That bill on the pelican is great! Do you use a photo for reference or just draw from memory?
@ Ellen D. -- The instructors provide us with a reference photo and we work from that.
Very very nice! Beautifully done. Thanks for posting them.
Gorgeous work, as always! I'm so impressed by your talent, skill and dedication. You may have issues with the background of the water lilies, but I like it. It reminds me of some fabrics from the 1960's or 70's.
Birds are always so fierce. That hummingbird means business!
These are gorgeous, Debra! I LOVE the Bobcat. That is really cool.
You should be "very pleased" with all of them.
I get a request for money from (some nature group) usually with 4 cards and envelopes in it. They have pictures on the front of the cards just like these. You should try and sell these to that group. I'm going to go see if I can find one of those cards. I'll be back. ... ... I'm back. https://nwf.org/ and about 5 more.
@ Mike -- Yes, I get fundraising cards like that too from various charities. I assume the artists donate their work in order to maximize fundraising profits. Thanks for thinking my student art would be good enough for such a use!
Can confirm that 'giving the world the evil eye'is pretty much the default setting for humming birds We have one who visits our house every evening about 6:30, lands in the tree outside my kitchen door and announces to the world that this is HIS territory. I've seen him go after other hummers indiscreet enough to enter his airspace.
I have tried numerous times to get a good picture of him, but he won't let me get a good look at his sunlit side
Very good!
bobbie
Dang! These are very, very well done. I'd be happy with them as well. Very cool.
You are so gifted. Beautiful creations. I need you hear to have art afternoons with.
These are all very good!
Debra, your drawings are all fabulous! I LOVE your humming bird, I feel like he's looking just now! Hugs, Valerie
Debra,
Thanks for dropping by my humbly little niche today. I have to agree with the previous commenter, "You are so gifted!" The fox on a cold day takes my breathe and the bobcat - WOW! Of course your birds are beautiful. The attention to details and color coordinating brings each illustration to life. Incidentally, your Gravatar profile does not have your blog URL linked to it. Thankfully, I found you on Rain's link up. Have a doodletastic evening, my dear!
Thanks so much for the exhibit! You are very secure with this medium now. It shows! And speaking as an artist approached for charity stuff, yes you usually donate your work. I've done it for fundraising auctions for various good causes. That said, your work is definitely strong enough for that to work.
Fantastic art Debra. Thanks for dropping by my blog.
Much💖love
They're all good, but I especially like the bobcat.
Love,
Janie
The cat is amazing. Great job I like to fox as well… are used to make greeting cards with watercolor pencils. Did that for years.. you are quite talented. Thanks for sharing.
These are really very, very good!
You can draw anything! Love the nature series you presented this week
So lovely. You are an artist, with the eye and depth of a good one.
I am in awe of your art. How very beautiful! I especially like the Brown Pelican, but all of the drawings are fantastic. The mad hummingbird probably doesn't want to share the space at the hummingbird feeder.
Those are amazing!!! Well done.
Your art classes are definitely paying dividends, Debra. I've encountered a few red foxes in the wild and you've captured the beautiful luminescence of red variants in fox fur to perfection! I'd like to see you draw a white Arctic fox against a moonlit night sky...
Wow! I stand in awe. Your art is so lovely to look at.
Western Tanagers are one of my favorite birds. They are a lot of bird in a small body. They should be showing up anyday now on their way north to their mysterious breeding grounds.
Nice artwork.
These are all so lovely. I don't know how to pick a favorite, but then I guess I can like them all right? I like how the bobcat is in black and white. I hope you have a great rest of your week. hugs-Erika
Wow very good Debra!
You are good. Good enough, I think, to exhibit and sell.
Well done, Debra. Love these!
Love that pelican!
So much talent here, they are all very good. Excellent even.
Stunning!!
...your image of nature are a delight to see this morning. Enjoy your spring.
Love the hummingbird and think the final fox would make an excellent Christmas card. Which somehow sounds like an insult but it's meant to be nice.
@ Liz Hinds -- That's a great idea! I'm going to look into it. Thanks for making the suggestion, it never occurred to me!
You really capture the essential nature of the animal you are representing. It's remarkable.
I agree with Liz - red fox on a snowy day would make an excellent card.
Lovely art creations ~ favorites are the fox and the bobcat ~ well done ~
Wishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,
A ShutterBug Explores,
aka (A Creative Harbor)
Amazing art.
Very nicely done, Debra. I have to say Robert Feline is my favorite mostly because of the meme I shared today but they are all so wonderful. Great job!
I bought a set of water color pencil and sure need to watch a few you tube video on it.
Coffee is on and stay safe.
Love the pelican, the bobcat, and the fox. You are good.
Awe!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Deb, these are just amazing pieces. You should be very proud of your artwork.
I had a good giggle at the Hummingbird giving the world the evil eye; we've all had those days.
You are clearly a talented artist. Please keep sharing your work.
wow, they are amazing all of them. So wonderful!
so much talent.
I think Baili said it better than anyone.
Beautiful art
Debra, you're so good!!! Your birds are fabulous, I love the Angry Hummingbird! ☺ The Pelican steal the bird show for me though...but your Bob Cat, wow. Great detail on the eye and fur, I love it!! ♥
