Hello again, everyone!
I'm back posting more of my art
for Friday Face OFF, a weekly link party
of art featuring faces, hosted by Nicole of
This week's offering was done
in a recent pen and ink class.
I also used a bit of
ink wash as shadowing.
Art teachers seem to love
assigning giraffes as art subjects.
I think it's because they are so goofy looking,
everyone has fun drawing them.
I've drawn (and previously posted)
two other giraffes:
this 2021 one in graphite --
and this 2019 one in
sanguine conté pencil --

Those are wonderful I love those, and again would make a lovely greeting card. If he put these up for sale I'm pretty sure sassy bear would buy them!
This is absolutely stunning. Well done -- VERY well done!
My theory is that Sassybear is secretly your art teachers.
Please forgive the heresy but I like the middle one the best.
Interesting that you're focusing on the head, rather than the long neck and long legs as one might expect. And it works! You've proven there's more to a giraffe than the obvious.
Your giraffes are great. They definitely look goofy.
Love,
Janie
Very, very nice.
I love the graphite one. I posted about an artist who does graphite today. Thought of you.
XOXO
Wow nice work!
...a giraffe is a wonderful assignment as you have shown!
Big wow ... WOW on all three, they are superwell and beautifully sketched! Chapeau!
🦒I like the first one the best!
Oh I love giraffes. They are so beautiful and willowy and definitely not overbearing. YOur drawings are amazing Debra. You definitely not only drew the physical igraafe beautifully, but captured their essence too. Have a great weekend, hugs-Erika
I love your giraffes, especially the first one touched my ❤️
These are really good. You are a great artist.
I love those, and you're right about the whimsy of giraffes. Love them.
Your giraffes are WONDERFUL, dear Debra, you have a lot of talent! Have a great weekend, hugs, Valerie

Wishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

Great job on giraffes, Debra.
Great giraffes! They are such unique creatures, aren't they?
All three giraffe drawings great (I luv the chin whiskers on #2), but your latest one is absolutely exquisite! You've clearly honed your talent and skill to a professional level, IMHO.
@ Tundra Bunny -- Thanks, you are too kind! But I'm far from a professional level. Maybe someday, who knows?
Time to head to the zoo and sell these outside the front gate.
You have such a talent in drawing!
Beautiful.
Coffee is on.
Wow, these drawings are amazing. I agree about the goofy face, they indeed look a bit goofy - and very very sweet.
So much personality
These are excellent. I never get tired of giraffes. Also okapis are very cool. Also their cousin, the Pronghorn, which may be still hanging on in the southern Alberta prairies. Thanks.
Exceptional!
Love them. As soon as I can sit up without pain I will be back. Thank you for joining FFO and have a nice weekend.
Love that first sketch
I wonder whether or not you regret not having chosen a creative career rather than, I think you mentioned Law. You certainly have a great talent in my eyes.
@ Rosemary -- Thanks for the compliment! I have no regrets about my choice of career. I realized as an adolescent that I would need to support myself (and support myself well) for my entire life, including retirement. I needed to become a professional earning a good living. That's easier to do as a lawyer than as an artist. Maybe in a perfect world that fact would be reversed, but here we are, LOL!
These are lovely, Debra. Goofy looking? No, they are beautiful, and maybe a little swoony with those big eyes and long eyelashes. You've captured their essence, definitely.

A lawyer with ethics is like a pearl or a rare gem. If you look close enough, they will all have flaws. But they are rare and beautiful. Also, maybe lawyering is also a kind of art, too.
@ Richard -- Oh yes, lawyering can be quite creative, in its own way. Law is definitely an art, not a science.
THey have such character-full faces!
I just learned they have long necks not for reaching high leaves but to knock each other around.
So much personality in that first giraffe's eyes. Impressive.
I love giraffes; for their goofiness and the innocence they seem to exude. Yours are brilliantly done my friend!
Love your giraffes..beautiful...not goofy..Gorgeous eyes..
Debra this giraffe is incredible. You really to have an eye for drawing.
Goofy yes, but beautifully done. All three are exceptional. Who doesn't love a giraffe.
Andrea @ From the Sol
They three are still 😍
Happy FFO 😘
