[Michael Rosato, Take My Hand, 2019]
Harriet Tubman (c.1822-1913)
American escaped slave,
abolitionist and social activist,
conductor on the Underground Railroad.
Isn't this art wonderful?
I love how she is emerging from the mural,
stepping out of frame, extending her hand,
helping the viewer enter the scene.
As if she is saying,
"Fear not. Have courage.
Come with me. Your freedom awaits."

I've seen this mural make the rounds on the socials. I love it! What a courageous woman.
Such an important symbol and message in these times too.
Beautiful!
She was one of my first heroes as a child and she will always be at the top of that list.
...she was the Moses of her people.
Way ahead of her time. An icon.
I love her story. She totally inspires me! Right next to the nurse in WWII who snuck children out of concentration camps in her cart.
What a great painting.
That mural may need protection. Just sayin.
@ Boud -- Alas, in these hateful times when the MAGA Trump Administration is trying to erase Black history, I'm sure you're right.
It looks so welcoming!
A stunning tribute! I imagine her to be saying, "Take my hand. Let me show you the truth of life in America...."
This is wonderful, Debra.
I love this mural!
This is beautiful, Debra. Thank you 😊 so much for sharing.
Fabulous mural, though I have little knowledge of Harriet Tubman, we didn't learn about people like her in Australian schools.
Beautiful and powerful.
I have seen that Mural..It is stunning..I hope it stays safe!!
I’ve loved that mural. I’ve admired Harriet Tubman since I finally learned about her in 6th grade.
I love this mural, Debra! Thank you!
That's a terrific mural. What courage she had. We need that now.
That's beautiful!
What an amazing mural.
Brovo! She deserves this and so much more. This is beyond beautiful.
Wow, that is one of the best murals every, hands down! (No pun intended but there it is.) Honestly, I struggle to see the beauty and point of most of them. This one is perfect.
Love it!
People who paint murals are amazing. I love she's being honored. Cankles has literally erased Black History Month here in the States.
Shame.
XOXO
Yes, this gives me goosebumps. It's an incredible, evocative, tear-jerking mural. Thanks for highlighting it and Harriet Tubman, SWS. It's unbelievable what she did, considering the obstacles she faced.
Almost looks 3-D.
I got here one comment to late to announce that it looks like it's 3D.

That is a fabulous mural. I love the position Tubman is in and what that is saying to us as the viewers about being on the Underground Railroad.

Happy crafty Sunday Tracey x
Thank you for sharing Harriett with SITAR. I read about her in school. Ya know when history was actually taught in school. Her story stayed with me and through my years and I was always eager to learned more about her. This mural is the essence of who she was. Here out stretched hand beckoning people to freedom. The force in her eyes conveying determination with a softness of compassion. The artist captured her perfectly. Have a great day today.
