Readers may remember that at the end of April, I resolved to get off my ass and take a daily walk around the block.
How did THAT go?
Well, I managed to do it for about a month or so. Then excuses started popping up like endless dandelions about why I couldn't do it on any given day.
But it was summer time by then, and so I was just naturally more active anyway, getting out and about, going places. Therefore, I didn't worry too much about slacking off on those walks.
And finally in September, I got some good news about my tai chi group, which had ceased operation a year and a half ago due to the pandemic.
Although the group no longer meets in person every morning at the mall, our leader has now taken it online instead so we can do our routines via Zoom in the comfort of our own homes! I am thrilled to be back in the swing of all things tai chi!
I thought I had forgotten absolutely everything I knew about the moves, but a lot of it has come back now simply through muscle memory and prodding the rusty old memory banks.
An added bonus to online tai chi is that now I no longer have the half hour drive each way to the mall and back. Sweet! That alone saves me an hour per day!

The perfect solution! On-line exercise groups are popular these days.
I had a friend in San Diego who led a Tai Chi class overlooking the beach. Heaven. I wish we had Tai Chi by the beach here. I’d definitely be up for that. I love that photo of you on your stupid little daily walk!
I get the sluggish; I do that. And I tell myself I always feel better and ready to go after getting up and doing some moving, but then on ccccccold mornings that toasty bed is hard to leave .....
Tai Chi is great. We have taken two classes, but after the classes no one continued the groups. We find our rooms too limiting to practice, and it has been too long. Working with a group, even on zoom, is necessary for commitment. Tai Chi alone is not the same.
As we age, we must keep moving. Use it or lose it.

Nice that your class has started back. I like tai chi too though there's no one around anywhere close that does it.
My doctor insists that a daily walk is not enough...I am thinking of changing doctors. As for tai chi, I think I tried it once and probably looked pretty silly and about as graceful as a robot. Benefit of on-line tai chi: no one can see how ungraceful one might be.
I have a problem with at home exercise - it is riddled with distractions and excuses. Glad you are getting back to Tai Chi. Someday I will get back to yoga but today is not that day.
If we don't keep moving, they might mistake us for dead.
Do not worry, grasshopper. Soon you will be a Slug Master while every Bunny is kung fu fighting!

Sadly, my consecutive streak of 6k steps per day came to an end this past week due to a very mild one day version of the flu (532 days). But we started a brand new one the day after.
Whoever says that walking isn't exercise hasn't done a weekly 2+ mile hike in a mountain in their sedentary lifetime.
I like the sound of that class! Do you have park nearby? Perhaps they might have walking group or a hike you can sign up for!
Ooh, I was looking for some more ways to incorporate exercise into my life (being a very exercise resistant person). I hadn't considered Tai Chi but now I'm intrigued! Something to look into.
Yay! I'm glad you have something fun and healthy that keeps you warm too. LOL, I'm still going to keep up my walks... but mostly because my crazy dog LOVES the cold and I've been well stocked with cold weather gear since he came to live with us.

I would like to try tai chi, I'm sure there will be one somewhere near me. I agree with Lady M about too many distractions with online classes.
I find setting my walk goal to be done at the same time each day, reminded by an alarm, thus it gets into my muscle memory
I also find success in Way of Life app to remind me of my daily tasks.
I would love to learn tai-chi but I'm hungry for company. Meet-ups sound great if I knew I could meet up with a safe crowd.

I would love an online tai chi! I took it one spring at a local library,but the instructor got a better offer and was no longer able to teach on weekends. I found that it really helped me focus - not an easy thing. And thanks to your tai chi adventures, I had "step back, repel monkey" printed on a t-shirt.

i am sooo much happy for you that you re back to Tia Chi Debra ,i am exercising since years and when i have to stop during vacation i feel the difference which is not good so keep up with exercise my friend :) heart felt best wishes! hugs!
I have been wanting to try Tia Chi. My mom did it everyday and loved it.
