For this week's Friday Face OFF link party
of art featuring faces, hosted by Nicole of
DVArtist, Art, Food, Gardening blog . . .
I'm doing a graphite drawing class now
called "Drawing Australia."
As its name suggests, we'll be drawing
the flora and fauna of The Land Down Under.
This cutie was our first assignment,
done freehand using HB, 2B, 4B and 6B pencils.
I've never been to Australia, but
wouldn't it be marvelous to go someday?
Have you ever been?

...fabulous job, Debra!
Now THAT'S artwork! You really excel at drawing animals!
I am always so happy to see some of your artwork here! You are SO talented. This little fella looks like he is smiling. I have a friend that married an Australian and has been living there for many years now. She loves it. He has dual citizenship so they are back and forth but their full time home is there-he's a true Aussie! Hugs- Diana
It's outstandingly cute and well done; love your koala ๐ฅฐ
I haven't visited Australia, but hope you will ๐จ๐
Come visit us. Best country in the world. Your koala is adorable. Rita
You use a pencil so well - as the actress said to the bishop. And yes I have been to Australia but only the airports of Brisbane and Melbourne - travelling to and from New Zealand!
I haven't yet made it to Australia, but one can hope to get there. I am even feel the fur on the koala in your drawing. Excellent work! And happy weekend-hugs-Erika
Very cute little dude.
It would be terrific to visit Down Under. ... Someday.
Great drawing. Yes, I was in Caversham´s Wildlife park near Perth, Western Australia twice and touched them. Oily and fluffy at the same time. But mind the claws! (The last time her name was Nellie and she was very nice).
Go visit!!! It´s a wonderful place.
I´d recommend West/North. But that is only my opinion (if River reads along, huhhhhh ;-).... I liked the tour you gave us, too!)
Good job!
Great drawing of a koala. Aussie is a wonderful experience. Treat yourself!
Looks great. I can almost hear it say, "I hate Quantas."
๐ฅฐ๐๐ค Oh, yes! You really captured that cute look of surprise when a koala notices something! Do a quokka next! Very close but with a fantastic permanent grin! ๐คญ๐
That is so impressive!!
This is so good!
Aww. Lovely koala ๐ ๐
I haven't been Down Under but your Koala makes it seem very friendly!
So damned adorable! You captured it beautifully.
Beautiful job! I’d go so far as to call it a koalaty drawing.
Hi Kirk, I remember that commercial! You are definitely at the nostalgic-memory center of the internet. --Jim
Oh my goodness, it's so cute.
Hello Debra, Your Koala is adorable! I am looking forward to more in this Australia series. Is it easy to draw an opal?
By the way, you have made so many fine drawings. Do you put any up or leave them in the drawing books? Do you rotate them or have favorites?
--Jim
@ Moving with Mitchell -- I don't know whether to LOL or GROAN! So I'll do both!
@ Parnassus (Jim) -- I don't think graphite would do an opal justice, but watercolours might! No, I don't put my art up in my home. If it's in a coiled sketchbook, it stays there. If it's on individual pieces of art paper and is worth keeping, I put it in a portfolio with individual clear sleeves for protection.
When I scrolled down to this I gasped. It is just fantastic. The shading, everything, was so well done. Bravo.
Australia is on my bucket list, but if I make it there I doubt I would find a koala as cute as yours :-)
Wonderful drawing.
i have never been to Australia but i posted a letter to there today
I love koalas. So cute. Really well done.
Marvelous, Debra! This one looks much more lively and alert than the ones I saw sleeping at the Taronga Zoo! ๐ค Hope the Oilers keep their lead!
You may not live there but you have plenty of friends there.
Awesome Koala bear sketch ~ Wow! ~ thanks,'
Wishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

I have told you before and hope you never get tired of it, you are an excellent artist. I love this. Thank you for joining FFO and have a nice weekend.
@ DVArtist -- Oh yes, Nicole, I always appreciate your expressions of support, and those of everyone else who comments! It keeps me going!
This drawing is fantastic, Debra! You are a wonderful artist! We had planned and booked the flights to Australia for the summer of 2020 - well, we all know how that ended. Maybe one day we'll try again.
