Broaden Your Travel Horizons

Joshua Kutryk, a Canadian astronaut from Alberta,
is currently at the International Space Station
doing a couple of space walks, among his other duties!

So in his honour, here's a few memes and LOLs
about our big, beautiful universe!

For some unknown reason, NASA wouldn't let
Joshua bring along his pet cat --

And speaking of the recent eclipse --

human-pet-they:

texting everyone in my friends list “see what happens when you disobey me?” when the eclipse starts

NASA also recently released
the closest image ever taken of Jupiter --

Commentary by @hamletthedane:
#Vincent Van Gogh is crying somewhere in the afterlife and I’m crying just thinking about that #you knew!! you saw the patterns!! there is a whole planet painted in the oils from your brush!!#TIL that the craft Juno went as close as 4000km from Jupiter’s weather surface #for context: the craft was closer to Jupiter than NYC is to LA #which in space terms is like basically being on the planet #holy shit

For its next feat, NASA will try to eat the Moon --

And does this next bad joke EVER get old?

Not to those of us who have
a sense of humour like
an adolescent boy!

While playing Trivial Pursuit years back, SG and I were partnered. Our question was, “what is the 2nd largest planet in the solar system?” I said Saturn and he asked, but how big is Uranus. And he was sincere.

🥰😻 Wonderful collection! All great in their own way. My favorite is that damned cat licking the Earth so hard it starts spinning the wrong direction on its axis!! 🌎🌀😱

That's Jupiter for real? It's beautiful.

I have a Uranus joke on my blog today, so clearly it will never go away.
That image is Jupiter is glorious.

I'm happy to just stay here!

I've actually been to Uranus! It's a kitschy tourist stop a couple of hours from my house. Everything is 'punny' and geared to the humor of an adolescent boy.

It could be fun to build a space station for cats.

LOLOL. Good ones!
We missed all the celestial shows this year due to cloud cover. Every. Damn. Time.

@ Kathy G -- Oh, what riches that store must contain, hahahahahaha!

That image of Jupiter is just astoundingly beautiful.

I wasn't sure at first that you weren't joking around about that being a picture of Jupiter. It DOES look painted!

I didn't see much difference during the eclipse, except that it felt like we had shaded lights. And it was somewhat eerie.

I had no idea he was from Alberta!
Van Gogh would certainly be inspired by that image!

@ Tundra Bunny -- GROAN!

It's actually a whole compound with a restaurant, fudge factory (get it?), general store, photo ops, and side show museum

Debra She Who Seeks said...

@ Kathy G -- Oh my gawd, the fudge factory on Uranus! Reminds me of that horrible ditty I learned from various class clowns in elementary school (complete with hand gestures) -- "Milk, milk, lemonade / 'round the corner, fudge is made!" Sheesh, adolescent humour, hahahahahaha!
