I'm taking part today in
Monday Murals hosted by Sami.
In the spirit of Halloween's approach,
Beware The Creature From The Ocean's Depths!
This exquisitely beautiful giant octopus mural
was painted by Shane Ford, an outstanding
Edmonton tattoo artist and muralist.
It's on the side of a commercial building
in Edmonton's Old Strathcona district.
I don't know if those are apartments on the second floor,
but I would gladly rent one just to be able
to come home every day and enter
via this awesome door, LOL!

You wouldn’t have any difficulty telling people where you live!
What an interesting abode!
Edmonton must be an incredible city to wander.
@ Moving with Mitchell -- It has its interesting nooks and crannies, yes!
I love that it spans the building!
Oh!
This is stunning! I know some tattoo artists that are incredible artists, but this is beyond.
XOXO
AWESOME!!!!!

Wow, that is a gigantic octopus. Lovely colours in the mural. Thanks for participating in Monday Murals Debra.
It is looking right back at us.
Wow!
Is there any creature of this planet which seems more alien than an octopus?
Impressive! and beautiful work
Cthulu!!! I'm home!!!!!
@ whkattk -- Hahahaha!
That is an awesome mural. Octopi are so freaking intelligent and cool. I will never eat octopus again. Unless I was starving and that was what was available. As to David's comment, one time my husband were out in the country trying to find the house of a guy in a small town. Stopped and asked a local where his house was. The local says, see the big tree over there in the distance? it's in his yard. Those were the directions.
I'd love to live in a place like that! LOVE it!
Yoir right...it would be worth living there to come home to see that. The colors are calming.
๐ ๐ In the ocean, the great beast has large wise eyes that can see all around with no blind spot. Muralist Shane Ford has captured this well. Even as an artistic work, that eye is following me and sees into my soul! Shudder! ๐ณ
I love it, Debra.
That is just beautiful! I was passing a shop the other day when I glanced in the window and said, "Oh wow!" It was a bronze octopus on a ball. It was over £2,000 and I didn't think i could justify that as part of a quick trip to the village, but so beautiful.
I'm with you. I would love to live there just to see the outside. Really beautiful.
What a stunning mural. I thinks that is the best one yet!
Ohhhhhh, I love the spooky fun!
What a stupendous mural! I thought the same thing about the door. Octopi are having a moment and I am here for it.
wow what an incredibly done art dear Debra
i love how it is wrapped around the building ,the coulors are gorgeous
i found it beautiful and fascinating :)
That's a wonderful mural -- but where's the octopus' garden?
What a beauty!
Definitely a cool place to live!!
Hi Debra, This is a very cool mural, but why are the lower window frames white? The upper ones are black and blend in, but the lower white ones disrupt the feeling of the whole painting.
--Jim
@ Parnassus -- I know, those white window frames are jarring, aren't they? My best guess is that they are new, standard-made window frames that a lot of buildings seem to have now (particularly apartment buildings). The ground floor is the commercial space, so I guess the building owner was upgrading it. The upper floor windows are clearly older models. Why the new window frames couldn't be painted black, I don't know, but perhaps they just haven't gotten around to doing so yet or perhaps they are made of some material that can't be painted. I also don't know whether the new windows were perhaps installed after the mural was painted. I suspect they might have been?
That's an awesome mural. I'd love to come home to it every day too.

@ Anonymous (Monsieur Dupuis) -- Merci! Oui, il y a de nombreuses villes dynamiques ร travers le Canada!
Fantastic! I'd love to have a cool mural on my house.
Love,
Janie
That's kind of nice - quite subtle against the black.
That looks so cool. I's so in awe of people who can create like this.
Aren't they a movie with Ocean, something like that.
Good morning and happy Tuesday.
A wonderful mural—the colors are fantastic! It’s worth sitting and admiring it for quite a while!!
Thank you.
It appears to be floating into view. Fantastic.
What a great Mural!
A bit on the scary side...
Fun that a tattoo artist painted this, all that fine detail must translate well to a whole wall. Great pick for Halloween week, and I'd take the door too.
That’s definitely a great mural. Reminds me a little of Chuthulu the sea monster.
Best… mae at maefood.blogspot.com
That octopus mural is truly beautiful!
I love paintings on walls, train tressels, concrete barriers. I love it for the art and I love it for the hear me roar.
Wow! What an awesome mural! I love it. Octopi are such beautiful and intelligent animals.
Many tattoo artists are phenomenal. My son in Italy has beautiful tattoos. Always goes to the same artist.
Thank you for sharing this beauty,
Lisca
You are getting us in the mood for that special (albeit creepy) time of year. I love fall and all that it brings us, so Halloween is a favorite time for me. The Octopus mural is spectacular. I wish we had some muralists in our area. Our town probably frowns on painting on their buildings, but the next town over (Aurora) has several murals painted on store fronts. I am always trying to Photograph them on my way through, but not easy while driving :)
I know by reading your blog that you are a fan of Bees (as am I), but you don't say anything about it in you profile. Tell me ... how did you become interested in bees? And interesting that you have 6 witches living at your house :) Be well and enjoy the lovely fall weather.
Andrea @ From the S ol
@ Andrea @ From The Sol -- I'm glad you're a bee fan too! Here's a post explaining why my blog has a bee theme! --

How wonderful does that look.
So many talented people in this world
I’d definitely love to live here too
Fabulous octopus, Debra! And what a wonderful front door!
