Feel the Rainbow!

The time has come to put on our walking shoes once more.

Translesbigayapalooza 2019 is a wrap!

But we will walk loud and proud in the upcoming year!

And I hope everyone will use this time to . . . .

Let's all FEEL THE RAINBOW!

Pride Milestones in 2019

This Friday, June 28th, marks the 50th anniversary of the 1969 Stonewall Riot in New York. This unprecedented battle outside a gay bar between queer people and the police triggered the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement in the USA and, ultimately, the world. It led us to where we are today!

Here in Canada, this year also marks the 50th anniversary of the 1969 decriminalization of homosexuality. This was the necessary first victory in our long fight for equality in our own country. Although plenty of persecution remained to be overcome, this milestone is worthy of commemoration because "the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." The Royal Canadian Mint has issued a $1 coin celebrating LGBTQ+ equality which features artwork by the gay Vancouver artist, Joe Average.

And lastly, June 2019 marks a personal Pride milestone as well. Thirty years ago in 1989 in Winnipeg, I walked in my very first Pride March. There were only about 300 of us who walked on that day -- such a contrast to the huge Pride Parades and Festivals of today! It pissed rain the entire way from Vimy Ridge Park down Broadway Avenue to the Manitoba Legislature (the original parade route in the early years of the Winnipeg march). People yelled abuse at us from their balconies as we went by and drivers waiting in their cars flipped us the bird.

Since then, I've walked in a lot of bigger and better Pride Marches, but there's always something special about your very first time, isn't there!

Let Us Pray, Part 2

Things are changing in certain churches, which is a good thing. It involves re-evaluating the true gospel message and the true role of religion in all our lives.

HRH's Pride Post

Hello, my beloved fans and minions!

It is I, Her Royal Highness the Cat,
here again with my annual Pride post!

Or should that be . . .

It's time once more to celebrate all things LGBTQ+

I bring you Official Pride Greetings
from the Animal Kingdom in all its diversity!

Homosexual behaviour is, of course,
rampant in the Animal Kingdom as well!

And here's a new species too!

Speaking of gender, I'd like to pay tribute
to our dear Grumpy Cat who recently
crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

People always misgendered Tardar Sauce as a male
but she was in fact a female kitty.

She was the Queen of Snark
and we will miss her terribly.

Farewell, Grumpy Cat!

And you know, fictional animals can be pretty kinky too!

(Yes, I know that Elmo is technically
a monster muppet, not an animal
but FU, don't quibble.)

I hope everyone agrees that
the Cat in the Hat is a cat, okay?

And, in the spirit of Pride,
I'm even including
a . . . a . . . DOG in this post.

I hope you're happy.

What are you complaining about?
You're getting tongue!

Sheesh, you people.
