My Rare One likes to decorate a gingerbread house at Christmas, so it's something we often do. We have fun and enjoy doing it. We don't eat the candy house though. After Christmas, we give it to friends across the street whose athletic kids can burn off all that sugar without any problem.
This blurry photo represents one of our very first joint efforts. Pretty unremarkable, if truth be told. Isn't the glare coming off that aluminum foil base positively blinding? And our marshmallow snowman with the chocolate drop hat has a dangerous, drunken lean to him. Nice peppermint finials on the roof though.
Tomorrow -- a photo of one of our better gingerbread houses!

I've always wanted to do a gingerbread house and the one time I actually tried...well let's just say I won't be going into the consturction business. Can't wait to see tomorrow's!
This is far and away better than any gingerbread house I've ever made. Mine usually topple over under the weight of all that candy!
Creative! :0)
What was in that chocolate drop hat that made Mr. Snowman lean like that?
{Cool. I made a rhyme!}
You know...that is too cute!!! I love it! I can hardly decorate sugar cookies w/sprinkles...LOL
~oh you have filled me with ideas this day!!! marshmellow men...i have never seen...i love his drunken lean...means he has had himself a surely good time!!! love it and can't wait to see more of these sweet houses...warm wishes and brightest blessings~
It's lovely. This is something I always wanted to do, but somehow never got to. Instead, I usually buy a small one.

If those are the early years, can't wait to see the pic of the more experienced years! Holy crow woman! You don't even want to see our sad excuse for a gingerbread house. Ours is more of a gingerbread homeless shelter...
looks deeeeelish!
-chuckle- Now THAT is a Post Subject Line, to draw-them-in!!!!!!! >,-)
Very cute project. One I've never tried. As I'm too *chicken.* ,-)
I love it. And it's remarkably clean! Nothing I get near with icing comes away without a blob or smudge on it. Martha would impale me with a cake knife if she saw my icing technique.
I only hang out with the drunk snowmen. Nothing is more annoying than a straight edge snowman. Unless you count wedgies. Those are pretty annoying, too.
looks great !!!!
i am making gingerbread today...the cake kind
happy to visit today...

I agree with Buggin.
That's a cool thing to do together.
It's better than anything I can make. Snowmen should have a drunken lean to them, gives them character.
Absolutely adorable! You did fantastic. I couldn't wrap my head around making one at all, you are fabulous.
BTW, I totally agree about Tetley's Earl Grey. Even the decaf has the perfect amount of Bergamon!
Ah gingerbread houses are so magical! Thank you for sharing.
Blessings Fiona
so cool...I used to do those with my son.
That's a lovely gingerbread house. Ours are made from one of those kits that you can buy at Superstore with the tray to set the house sides in. It's the same kit every year, but we like it :)
I do believe I'm going to borrow your snowman idea for ours!
I like your house, especially the snowflakes on the roof, nice touch!
Looking forward to tomorrow:)
very creative and domestic.
Oh my goodness. This reminds me of the time one of the church ladies asked me and my sister to come over to her house and make a gingerbread house. When we were done (and bored out my mind), her dog ate it.
It's the little things, you know.
I tried to do a ginger bread house once with 2 grandkids under the age of 4...arghghghggh
It's so cute. I love the leaning, drunken snowman!
You should see a picture of the first gingerbread house me and Littleman did. It looked more like something from a Stephen King novel.
I HAVE NEVER MADE A GINGERBREAD HOUSE......ADDING THAT TO MY LIST OF 100 THINGS I WANT TO DO BEFORE I DIE!! (O:(O:

Thanks for sgaring the photots! A great post too. I made a gingerhouse once. It was fun! My niece and nephew had fun after Christmas wreaking and eating it! After drinking some brandy, thinking back alot of the house leaned!!!!! Can't wait to see more.
That is a mansion. My first gingerbread house was a ice cream cone covered in green frosting with a red hot star. Thought it was pretty cute. Especially since my graham crackers kept falling off the milk carton.
But I love your before you knew what you were doing house. It smells good even from here. I'm coming back tomorrow for the After one!
Oh, I will SO be here tomorrow for what you guys consider your better gingerbread houses! Dang! No more fussing about my jack-o-lanterns...think you got me beat there!
