When the pandemic struck in March and my art lessons ceased, I had big plans (BIG PLANS) to keep going on my own -- I intended to finish some half-completed coloured pencil assignments, keep practising watercolours, and try my hand at some new things.
SO HOW DID THAT WORK OUT?
Yes, I've been a complete and utter SLUG in the art department since March. Haven't even put pencil to paper ONCE.
But when I saw that this week's art prompt at
Thursday Art Date with Rain was
"SUPERHEROES," it inspired me to
GET OFF MY ASS and participate!
How could I RESIST the urge to try my hand at depicting my favourite obsessions superheroes CAPTAIN AMERICA and the WINTER SOLDIER?
So, after a mere FOUR HOURS of intense labour, here's my Art Date contribution (sorry for the blurry photo, it's the best I could get) --
I based my drawing on this more complex piece of fanart by
kimeido. I'm basically pleased with how my version turned out, although Captain America's head
IS a bit big for his body, plus I completely
MISSED putting the red stripe on his uniformed arm as shown in the original --
D'OH! Serves me right for just
ASSUMING I knew what his uniform colours were.
And yes, the Winter Soldier's torso is MUCH TOO BROAD by at least 1/4 inch. Alas, I didn't notice that until I had inked his uniform and, of course, once something is INKED, it's too friggin' late for changes then, pal.
However, in the Marvel movies, Bucky DOES tend to go up and down the CHONK SCALE, so obviously he's just having a FAT PANTS kind of day in this depiction. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
