Ya-HOO!

We're back from our hijinks! Wearing our best faded jeans and cowboy hats, my Rare One and I attended the opening weekend of the Calgary Stampede. Ya-HOO! We brought along the Cowgirl Niece from Manitoba so she could take inspiration from the rodeo circuit's greatest barrel racers.

Let me tell you, buckaroos, over the course of two days we did it ALL -- pancake breakfast, Stampede Parade, rodeo events (broncs, bulls, calves, barrel racing, wild pony chase and chuckwagon races), Grandstand Show and fireworks. We only skipped the bars and the midway. Figured we didn't really need to get drunk and puke after some crazy ride (although apparently for many that's the real charm of a full Stampede experience).

I went to the rodeo a couple times when I was kid. Boy, those people take that stuff SERIOUS. It was really like being in the wild wild west...or maybe the Dust Bowl.

Welcome back. You were missed. Sounds like you had a great time of it. The pancake breakfast and fireworks sounds great to me, but I'm not sure I could hold up under the rest of it.

Glad you enjoyed yourself! I live here and quite honestly am glad it is over. Since I work downtown, there are millions of people down here during the Stampede - makes traffic NUTs!!

Hope you enjoyed it enough to come back!

You're back! And a good time was had, by all!!!

Thanks for your comment on my 'Gabriel' post. :-) And I figured some of my readers would appreciate that I got MY view on Baptism in there! In a kind of a sneaky way. LOL.

It can be innnnnnnteresting, when one is the only family member, to have totally *radical* views. -grin- But, it makes for a thicker skin. -repeat grin- Believe me, no one dares give me any grief, of course. I don't take kindly to being *given grief,* any more. >,-)

And I did family a huge favor, just be being there!!!!!!!!! Yish!

Glad you're back from a great holiday!

I'm so glad you had fun - and skipped the midway. Just heard on the news that one of the rides malfunctioned and tossed 10 people to the ground. Everyone is okay - but still...

A yahoo and a hotdamn, as they say down in Texas. I sort of knew that Calgary had horses, and such, but never really thought of rodeo. Being a typical South of Your Border type, I'm still thinking RCMP out to get their man in the Kondike.

Also, thanks for commenting on my blog. That is always appreciated.

There is nothing less attractive than seeing someone puke in their cowgirl hat after being thrown off a bucking bronco!!

Welcome back
