For today's Friday Face OFF link party

Forgive Me, Jesus, But These Videos Are Funny

(1) Mommy's Glass Is Getting Low

(2) Get My Dad's Name Out of Your Mouth!

(3) Oh Scheiße! A Modern German
Subway Station of the Cross

What follows is commentary and photos from
the internet post where I found this video --

This isn’t quite how I imagined
the second coming of Christ.

What makes this funnier is that I’m pretty sure
that’s at the station for Cologne Cathedral.

It is and every time I see that hole I think of this video.

I remembered to check at the station today and can report
that the structural stigmata are still there --

Why are there 4 holes?? Maybe 5?

It’s His daily commute.

It is written that twice did Jesus stumble and
twice did the cross strike nearby architecture.

So really this is method acting.

Unfortunately they repaired it recently --

And now there's a commemorative plaque of the incident,
posted on the subway wall in three languages --

This post is dedicated to blogging buddy

and has (drumroll please)

JUST RETIRED!

Congrats, and enjoy retirement!

Now it's the weekend all the time!

Monday Murals -- Up, Up And Away!

 I'm taking part today in
Monday Murals hosted by Sami.

This whimsical silhouette mural by an unidentified artist***
is found on the side of a building which houses
a mechanical services business in my city of Edmonton.

It's a great little landmark in the area!

*************************** UPDATE *****************************

No wonder everyone in the comments was
drawing connections to Banksy -- it turns out this is a stencil of
a famous Banksy mural called "Flying Balloon Girl"
created in the West Bank in 2005 as political commentary
about restrictions placed on Palestinians'
freedom of movement in that area.

Thanks to Codex and their comment setting
the record straight about this!

Sunday Selections # 792 -- Colour of the Month: Gold.

For today's Sunday Selections,
a blog hop party of photography challenges
hosted by River of Drifting Through Life --

I'm fulfilling the Colour of the Month prompt
provided by Charlotte of MotherOwl's Musings.

This month's colour is Gold.

Here's a few photos of gold (or gilded) items
from my travels over the years --

1. Uffizi Gallery, Florence, Italy (2008)

A corridor ceiling overflowing with
golden-framed Renaissance paintings.

2. Brooklyn Public Library, New York (2009)

On one of its entrance columns, the Goddess Athena
with the Python of Delphi at her feet.

3. Coronation Chair, Westminster Abbey,
 London, England (2009)

The ancient Chair itself is wood, but
the four Lions supporting it are gilded.

The empty space just above the Lions is
where the Stone of Scone is placed
for the Coronation ceremony.

4. Temple of the Golden Pavilion,
Kyoto, Japan (2012)

This photo was taken from the back,
on the shore of the lake
which the Temple overlooks.

5. Sweet Cake Plate, Uji City, Japan (2012)

I was served this sweet cake
on a golden glazed ceramic plate
at the start of a Tea Ceremony.
