Birds of Vancouver

So let's start off with a BIRDS-EYE view of Vancouver, British Columbia. My Rare One and I just got back from visiting friends and family there.

While kicking around Chinatown, we saw this lovely CHICKEN mural which I really liked, probably because my Chinese astrological sign is the Rooster.

One of the things we did was to visit the Bill Reid Gallery of Northwest Coast Art in downtown Vancouver. Bill Reid was the greatest of all Haida Indigenous carvers and artists. This magnificent RAVEN stands at the apex of his huge totem pole in the Gallery.

Like BIRDS OF A FEATHER, My Rare One and I flocked together with more than half a million other people at the Vancouver Pride Parade on the August long weekend. We had a great time! And look at the beautiful bejewelled plumage that I found for myself! Yeah baby yeah, I got my rainbow bling on!

I love Vancouver! It's my favorite city of the West Coast of North America. Looks like you and your Rare One had a spectacular time!
(Did you go to the Emily Carr house by chance?)

Scratch that last comment. Emily Carr's house is in Victoria. D'oh!

@ e -- The next city I want to get back to that I haven't visited for awhile is Victoria -- so thanks for the tip about Emily Carr's house being there! I will check it out when I go! She's a fave artist of mine.

@ Lady M --Just the usual sparrows, pigeons, seagulls, etc. Alas, I'm no birder like you. You probably would have spotted all kinds of exotic varieties!

Back in the 60's when I lived in Portland one of my numerous boyfriends and I had met this couple vacationing Portland and we had a great time..then they asked us to come visit them in Vancouver..we went and had the greatest time..my first reaction was that it looked like someone got up early each morning and polished it..we also went to a huuuuuuuuuuuuge nightclub called Oil Can Harry's..never seen anything like it before or since..
welcome back..did you notice I said hi to you in my header?

We had hoped to move to Vancouver some years back, but the job opportunity didn’t arise. That top photo makes me pine! And the rest are wonderful, especially the two of you.
