Back-to-Back Stanley Cups!

Woo hoo! The Penguins won the Stanley Cup last night for the second year in a row!

This brings the Penguins' total number of Cups won over the years to five, tying the Edmonton Oilers' record for most Cups won by an expansion team. Hopefully, this will be the spur the Oilers need to defend their record and win a sixth Cup next year!

And just because it's Translesbigayapalooza month on my blog, I'll end this post with a photo of hockey sticks wrapped with Pride Tape! This is an anti-homophobia-in-hockey initiative started right here in Edmonton and now supported by various teams around the NHL.

Yay, Penguins, though a Nashville win would have been good too. Hockey is not my thing!

I love this initiative!

Congrats to the Penguins. It would be pretty awesome if the Oilers and the Penguins met up next year to see who gets to break the record.

quite a victory, eh?

I imagine my friends in Pittsburgh are elated.

Darn those Penguins! Not that I was rooting for Nashville, per se. GO OILERS!

Love the Prideful hockey sticks! I can only imagine what it is like in a professional sport locker room, and I doubt it is a welcoming place for a gay athlete. Go Oilers!

Hey Debra, have you seen the new Philadelphia pride flag? The usual rainbow with two extra stripes: brown and black. It's all about inclusion...

Cheers!

It really takes two people to lift that cup up. Not a fan of the sport, but congrats to the winning side.

Woot! Love hockey - it's the only sport I get worked up about (or, more grammatically correct: about which I get worked up...)

I could not be happier for my guys. I live in Calgary now, but will always be a Pens fan. I think you have some exciting seasons ahead with your Oilers! Rainbow hockey sticks FTW :)

Maybe, maybe not for the Oilers.

How long do you have to wait before hockey season starts up again? I know the football loving members of my family hate the off season.

@ brewella deville -- Regular season hockey usually starts up again in mid-October.

I do think sporting wins typically go in streaks. I had not heard of the rainbow sticks.

It's probably 95 degrees in Pittsburgh today. Perfect weather for a hockey championship (?)

Nice sticks!

I know sports is probably a big place for homophobes, but hopefully that will be a thing of the past as time goes on.

Tim Tebow plays minor league baseball (like WTF) here in SC now. Sometimes I think he looks at the other players in the shower and thinks "...no Jesus would think these are bad thoughts...let me think of my favorite bible passage,"

I missed this entire month! Bummer. Yet I'm happy you continue making the world a better place one post at a time.

Those playoffs seemed to go on forever - I'm glad someone finally won! :) I do like hockey, so watched a little.

Love those hockey sticks - good for them for doing that.

I've gotten away from watching hockey the last couple of years. I guess it's time I got back to it like a proper Canadian. Those hockey sticks are awesome!

I miss Mario Lemieux. He truly was the greatest, even greater dare I say than Gretzky.

Debra She Who Seeks said...

@ Guillaume -- You know, I'm sure, that Mario Lemieux is one of the current owners of the Penguins. They often showed him watching the games during the playoffs. And oh no, I'm afraid you're mistaken; there is no one greater than Gretzky.

I don't care about hockey unless it's the Stars or a canaderian team.
