How Can Edmonton Compete With This?
It's an unwritten law that you cannot go to Hawaii without taking a gazillion photos of beautiful sunsets, so here's my favourite shot taken by My Rare One!
We had a wonderful time in Maui soaking up the sun, surf and sand of the island, as well as a hula concert, various unique shops and craft shows, an evening of slack key guitar Hawaiian music and some wonderful restaurant dining.
We also soaked up chocolate milkshakes in this 1950s diner. Gotta love that old timey rock 'n roll which *yikes* is the same vintage we are!
I don't often post photos of us on the blog so in case you haven't seen one before, that is me on the left and My Rare One on the right, looking particularly happy with that milkshake, I must say.
So now that we're back home in wintry Edmonton again, regular blogging resumes next week!

did your rare one slip some booze into her shake? (grin)
they DO look good, as do you two! although how you can go from maui back to edmonton is beyond me! I'd winter in hawaai!
Ahhh, nice to meet your photo! Hubby and I love that old time rock n' roll too. Whenever we are watching a movie and the sound score is classic rock or similar we look at each other and say "this is a good movie". I've noticed the trend. Glad you both had a wonderful time. But, into every northerners life a little (little, that's a joke) snow must fall. But you'll always have those warm, sunny pictures to lift your spirits.
Ah, it's nice to finally get to see you. Those milkshakes do look yummy, and I love that they are served in those old fashioned milkshake glasses. Now I want one. Sounds like you had a load of fun there.
Look at you, missy, all posh and swell in tropical heat while the rest of us peasants freeze in the cold :)
Looking good in green, Debs, in that photo! You're such a legend!
Hello Debra, Love the double portrait. Some people ask me if I plan to return to Ohio from Taiwan for the winter holidays. I regard them as crazy, so I agree with those who think you should have extended your Hawaiian foray until Spring.

Your vacation sounds perfect! Welcome home!
Congrats on getting on of town and out to somewhere where people take pictures of sunsets!
The blog changes once you post a picture of yourself. This is where it gets too real. If my recent experience is any indication.
Loved the pics and I look forward to having you back to your regular blogging soon.
Thank you so much for the lovely pics, as they are proof that happiness and beauty still does exist, friend D … With your (pending) permission sending a link of my travel blog, scroll down to Hawaii if you like … or view all posts if you like … I loved the island of Kawuai so much … http://ckpeacemaker.wordpress.com/ Always, cat.
You too look fabulous and milk shake happy. i bet you had a fabulous time!
Edmonton cannot compete with that on a sunshine tropical level but Edmonton has many many attributes that stand out to me!! You and your rare one first come to mind!SEnding my love to both of you!!! I don't know if I could come home,,,,,looking out my window at knee deep snow, wind chill, ice,, frozen cars,, ya,, think I would just stay there,,
I'd been peeping your blog long before you discovered mine (because I at long last left a comment), and this is first time I've seen you. It's always nice to see the face behind the blog and their rare one.
I've always pictured you two as Wonder Woman and Xena. This is so much better!
I love Hawaii and I discovered that no matter how gifted one is with a camera, the true vivid colors of the place don't transfer. That's were a good memory comes in. I could just be lousy at taking pictures, though.
Welcome back. Great pictures, including you and your rare one.
How nice to meet you. That looks like a fine old Seeburg there behind you. A grand picture, all around.
glad you two had a great time. i love hawaii! you to look so cute!
Oh I am so envious! It looks like a perfect vacation. The milkshake photo is adorable! One of those simple pleasures in life enjoyed by any age.
I would say that I've been to that exact spot on Maui but, don't all tropical sunsets look alike? Lol. So happy that you two had a warm and relaxing (and delicious) get away. Are you going back in February when it really gets nasty?
Great photo of you both. Love that you went away to where it's so pretty and warm. Funny about the pictures!!!!!
I love the sunset photo but I am most happy to see the photo of you and your rare one! Aloha!☺
So wonderful to see a picture of both of you!!! Hawaii must have been amazing! I'd love to visit thee one day... My girls would have loved one of those chocolate milkshakes! Hope you are having a great week!
Blessings,
Jill
Welcome home! The milkshakes sound delicious and the sunset photo is stunning!

Returning back home from the sun must have been a bit of a shock to the system, but I can see that you both had a wonderful time whilst away including that delicious looking chocolate milkshake.
Welcome home!!!! Glad you made it back safe and sound. The photos are lovely, the milkshakes look delicious! :) Cannot wait for regularly scheduled blogging!
Welcome back home!! OMG! I remember those beautiful sunsets. The waterfalls in the mountains after a good rain. The food. The sounds of the waves crashing. *sigh* I miss living in Hawaii.
It's great to have y'all back home. I missed reading your blog. Did ya bring me a present? Huh? Did ya?
Two happy faces enjoying themselves immensely! I am both craving a milkshake and sunshine about now as the snow falls outside my window. Can I come along next time? I'll carry all your baggage and everything!
I'm shivering in my Philly 'burbs town while envying your tropical trip. That is a lovely sunset. Hopefully the memories of Hawaii will keep you warm during the Edmonton winter.
That looks like a fun diner. We used to have something similar to us, but sadly it closed. My children (who are both milkshake snobs) really used to love the shakes they had there. Wonder if I could get the family to go to Hawaii for the milkshakes.
What glorious photos - and love love love the milkshake photo - vintage is just another word for happy memories.
Milkshakes are one of my favorites, and of course, they're fucking expensive.
Just a week in Hawaii will have to hold you in Edmonton for the winter. I don't know how, but it might.
Such a beautiful sunset as I look out my window and see cold and snow :)and I love your Rare One's Hawaiian Shirt
If I was you two, I would have stayed in the sunny tropics till at least spring...… What were you thinking? I also didn't recognize you without the mittens.
That sunset! I'm SO jealous!!! I wish I could disappear to a warmer area for all of January and February. Because winter...bleh...
That is such a great photo of the two of you!
Wonderful sunset picture. And your milkshakes look good. Welcome home, sorry about the winter and the cold and the snow and the ice...start planning your next venture to a warmer local.
Ooooh what a beautiful picture of you two!!! Thanks for sharing!!! Hawaii...one place I likely will never be. That sunset is gorgeous, I'm so glad you had a great time!! Now back to the frigid reality of Canada! :)
You and rare one (and the pair of chocolate milkshakes) put a smile on my face that stuck for a while. Love this.
The sunset pic - meh, but the two - err, four - of you, now that's an award winning vacation!
Gorgeous - and I don’t mean the sunset!
Great pic. You BOTH look super!
JP
Hell, the 50s produced some of the best everything, including people! Great photo of the two of you!
Oh so jealous. I have not been to Hawaii since the 80s and probably won't get back. I'm sure you had a wonderful time and have mixed feelings about being back home. But you were missed. Have a good weekend.
The most beautiful sunsets and sunrises I have seen were on the arctic circle.
That is of course when they have sunsets and sunrises.
the Ol'Buzzard
Cue this tune, "At Last".......great photo of the two of you. The vacay looks delightful and so do you two. xoxo Oma Linda
Bright sunsets and gorgeous ladies enjoying milkshakes... Fantastic! I absolutely adore the picture of you two. Just perfect. Thanks so much for sharing it.
Lucky you going to sunny warm Hawaii! Maine is cold and unpleasant though now that you're back in Edmonton I'll wager you're not much warmer. Those milkshakes look yummy and you both look pretty happy :)
I didn't recognize you without the gloves on lol. You ladies are cute as kittens! It must have been hard coming back to cold weather, like being tossed out of paradise lol.
So happy to see a photo of you both AND the most beautiful Maui sunset photo in existence. I'm sure of it.
wonderful Hawaii
have a great day
At last, a lovely picture of a fave blogger and their partner in crime. Rare is the day that I can see the actual creator of a favorite blog. Hope your vaca was a goody
These are huge milkshakes! Nice to put a face on a name (and a blog!).
That all looked so good ……………...
Oh my goodness- from the gorgeous sunsets to those delicious looking milkshakes- Heaven all around!!
We went there once. Hope to go again someday. How can other places compete with Maui? - my answer is cost of living. Milkshakes with friends/family are good anywhere.
Happy to see your post! I'm glad you got to enjoy some warm weather and gorgeous sunsets, not to mention milkshakes, before the long cold winter!!
You two are so cute! Had to show mom your picture too! She said the same thing I did. I have never been to Hawaii. Would love to go there one day! Love the sunset photo! Welcome Home! Big Hugs!
