Time Travel

But it seems not everyone does!

Recently, someone noticed that an old archival photo from
the 1898 Klondike Gold Rush in the Yukon shows
a young girl who is a doppelganger for
Greta Thunberg, the climate activist.
(Article found here).

And, of course, what other conclusion
could one possibly draw?

So, ‘Greta Thunberg’ is in a photo from 120 years ago, and it’s my
new favourite conspiracy. Greta’s a time traveller, from the future,
and she’s here to save us.

Well, makes sense to me!

Clearly, Greta has access to the Time Stone
so she can time travel at will.

If you got your hands on the Time Stone, where would you go?

The past?

The future?

Who would you visit?

What would you do?

Haha
George Takei posted about this and I was like, let the conspiracy theories start! It's fantastic.
So Greta got in her Tardis and came to warn us not to be stupid. Makes sense.

XOXO

I would like to travel to the past, but only for a short period of time and with a definite exit plan. I'm a big fan of modern dentistry and hygiene! -Jenn

I loved this latest theory! What would I do? Where would I go? I don’t think that I’d want to KNOW the future. That could be really distressing. So I’d go back in time to get answers to some questions I suppose, just out of curiosity. I wouldn’t dare change anything since who knows how much worse even the best of intentions might make things going forward. I need a drink.

Hah! Well, at least the well-named Mr. Strange seems to be only tongue-in-cheek about this idea. Of course, with eight billion people alive today (and a few billion more who lives since the invention of photography), there will inevitably be some cases of close resemblance.

One could do some fascinating things visiting the past. Rescue and bring back some of the great books from the Library of Alexandria, before they were destroyed and lost forever. Ask ancient scientists like Aristarchus and Eratosthenes how they achieved some of their great insights -- though I guess I'd have to learn ancient Greek to do that. There are so many ancient cultures of which only enigmatic fragmentary evidence survives today -- the Etruscans, Harappa, the pre-Aryan cultures of Europe. One could learn so much about what they were really like.

But the future would be the most interesting. Think of all the inventions, discoveries, and social and cultural changes of the last hundred years, things which nobody living in 1919 would or could have anticipated. I'd like to see what the next hundred years will bring -- or the next thousand.

More of a subversive element sent by an evil powers of the future to spread division and hate than a saviour, methinks.

I think I'm a Past guy.I'd like to be on the front lines of what has happened already and see it unfold, really unfold. So much of history is not accurate, it'd be nice to see the real deal.

First thing, I'd wanna be on that bus with Rosa so I could stand with her.

I wish I could time travel! I'd travel to the past and the future. Why settle for just one type of adventure?!

I saw that picture of what looks like Greta in the past too. There have been pictures of paintings dug up what was thought to be of Keanu Reeves. The man doesn't seem to age at all. He is the ultimate time traveler.
If I possessed the Time Stone I would like to go back to visit my dad and my grandfather one more time. I loved them both so much. They were the most generous and sweet men ever to live and I miss them so much. Then I would go to the future to watch Drumph go to jail for all the illegal shit he thought he could get away with. Then I would go further into the future by 50 to 100 years to see what it will be like because I won't be here. I'm a curious person.

I would go anywhere but the Klondike Gold Rush.

I'd sit perfectly still, eyes open on who would come and visit me.

I'd go back in the past, clear up a bunch of dumb ass mistakes(all 3 of the husbands) and flip the switch and go in the future..that's what pisses me off the most about dying..can't find out what's going to happen next.

Go Greta. Do your bad stuff and help us fix this effing mess.

What an interesting article. They say we all have a twin somewhere.

You know, I think Manhattan, particularly Greenwich Village, right after World War II would be most interesting. So many writers, artists, and actors that I like were hanging out around there at the time. I'd like to meet Tennessee Williams, Truman Capote, and Gore Vidal back when they were all still friends with each other. Dorothy Parker was still alive, so I'd get to meet her, too.

Hello Debra, I would put the time stone to a more practical use to avoid those horrible long international flights. In Taiwan, I would set it 35 hours ahead, and zap! I would be already resting in Ohio.

I would right down old lottery numbers and go back a few years in time and get my past self to play them and enrich myself so I could have a kick ass life. Then I would constantly slip in and out of the apprentice studio and wreck the place every time they went to film.

Sorry, gotta go.

I saw that article and thought, hmm, so Swedes have been here for quite a while. Go Greta!

I think if I had the time stone, I would go back and tell all the indigenous people in North America to kill all white people as soon as they get off their ships.

I doubt it, a time machine would require a lot of carbon

Oh my gosh, it really does look like her. Spooky and fun. Not sure what I would do if I had the stone.

For argument's sake let's say the health and sanitation risks wouldn't apply to a time traveler. I think I'd like to spend time at the court of Elizabeth I, be at the dinner party when William IV put Victoria's mother in her place, explore the west with Teddy Roosevelt, and definitely hang with the young Alice Roosevelt.

I think the thing that fascinates me the most, the Spanish arrival and history in the new world, would be horrific to see first hand and I'm not sure I could do it.

Those photo comparisons are spooky, but the real question is are you going to do dishes for me on Thanksgiving? If I get my hands on a Time Stone I'm going to a place where there are NO damn dishes....just eating!!!

The resemblance between the two girls is uncanny! Wow! Thanks for sharing this, Debra!

I would go back in time. I would try to create a paradox just to see what happens.

Oh I would go into the past for sure...when dressing up was mandortory and pomp and circumstance reigned. Im sure i was left behind from another period anyway. To go to the future would be confusing to be plopped right there. One might not know which end is up.

Great post...i loved reading the comments.

I'd like to visit the lawless days of San Francisco around the Gold Rush period, but probably only as a man.

I’d like to wake up tomorrow morning. Lol. That is a good start to the day!

Time travellers. Let’s hope!

I would go to the time in the future where they've discovered a cure for old age.

That is very interesting. I had not seen to "old" Greta picture. They are remarkably similar.

That is definitely Greta! No other possible explanation but time travel.

Guess what, when we were in England, for two days in a row, I was stopped on the street by people who mistook me for their friends. I know I have English ancestry but it was strange to have that happen, twice! When I spoke, they knew they had the wrong gal!😄 That is interesting she looks so much like the girl in the Goldrush days.

The past. I'd like to meet my two grandfathers, both died before I was even a twinkle in my daddy's eye. Then further past to meet some of my great, greats to know who they really were. Why they chose to come to the new world. How they survived. And, finally to a time when the beaches are not covered with trash so I can find some really cool shells and sharks teeth! Can I bring shells back with me to this time, do ya think?

Interesting questions..Food for thought for sure..No easy answers..If I went back to the past could I change some of the decisions that I had made???Hmmm

That is a crazy AND interesting conspiracy.
I would go to the past and enjoy my childhood more than I did!! It wasn't always peachy, but it was over too fast. :)

it would be a lot of fun as long as I didn't mess things up.

I was told once that I resemble the Colonel from KFC. But if I time travel I want more than fried chicken.

Do you think I could go back in time and become a famous blogger?

Guillaume said...

The future scares me and I am afraid it might be murder. So I will most definitely dtravel back in time: visit other time period and witness historical events happening, and have a few words to my past self so maybe he can avoid making a few mistakes.
