Supportive Family and Friends

I'm happy to have received
so many comments all this month
from readers who love, support and encourage
their LGBTQ+ family members and friends!

This is being a true Ally in action!

Kudos to you all!

Gay and proud to be myself. Ally of all those different from me (except haters). And you are an inspiration!

Yes, to be ourselves with respect, what a concept.

Hello Debra, There is always a trade-off. Young people can now love anyone they want from the get-go, but they can't iron!

Grandmas rule! I love the one about the grandma ironing the flag, and the same goes for the feisty grandma who tells the dad what's what.

It's sad, but there are still too many people that can't accept people that are different from them.

Support more than once a year! Proud longtime ally here.

Grandma's certainly have been around long enough to know how life is.

These are all great. It heartens me to find some people who were once adamantly anti-gay instead learning to accept and love.

Love,

I don't know why, but this post reminds me of a conversation I had decades ago when I was working as a dishwasher in a posh restaurant. We were discussing love life, sex life and so on and in the restaurant business then (still now perhaps) people were pretty open about their sexual orientations. One of the senior waiters told us that in his family, they were four children and it went 50% hetero, 50% homosexual. I don't know to this day if he was the former or the latter.

Minovsky's 88-year-old grandma nails it.

Beautiful sentiments! I know people in my age group who have changed their views since our childhood and are now allies! It is very heartwarming. We must support each other, but it is essential for those who need it most.

i don't respect those who disrespect others on the basis of their ignorance only

i think we should respect all without putting conditions and this is the only way to have genuine respect for ourselves
i liked it !
