Writers Gotta Write

I know that many bloggers
LOVE to write and are authors of
novels, short stories, memoirs and poetry!

I applaud you all!

Say, are any of you
participating in this month's

If so, good luck with your novel writing!

Writing can be very, very hard, can't it?
There are so many issues involved
in the writing process --

  • not writing
  • writing
  • people reading their stories
  • people not reading their stories

  • Editing
  • Not editing

  • Not having any good ideas
  • Having too many ideas and not being able to decide which to write
  • Having one really good idea and worrying they’re not a good enough writer for the idea

  • Not having the time to write
  • Having the time to write

And be careful not to fall prey
to stereotypes about writers!

The question which
every writer must determine is:
what makes for good writing?

I wanted to be a writer when I was a kid.
My first short story was essentially a fanfic
based on the Arthurian Legends.

But alas, adult life and career demands intervened.

I did write as part of my career,
but only technical, specialized writing
like government reports and legislation.

And now I find I lack the imagination
to create fictional characters and plots.

So I'm depending on all of YOU
to keep me amused with your
creative writing!

I know you won't let me down!

As is that little girl with the gleam in her eye ....

Loved these!
Have never done NaNoWriMo but have some friends who always try and complete it.
BTW, Emma (with the awesome twitter handle!) is my spirit animal. LOL

After publishing my memoir and now pretty much being held hostage by my publisher, I "Gave up writing...the novel, the blog, even comments on other people's blogs..."

And Amazon has gone weird on me: "Did You Ever See a Horse Go By?, a Coming Out Memoir" by DeFrancesco, Frank (2014) Paperback – January 1, 1707
4.7 out of 5 stars 6 ratings
Kindle $9.99 Paperback $877.95

I wish I had the nerve to write a diary full of lies. But not being around to see people's reactions would take all the fun out of it.

Stoker's thirst edition LOL.

Thirst editions, AHAHA!

I enjoy the writing process; but after that zero. It use to be that when you wrote a story, sent it in, and was rejected, at least you had a rejection slip to post on your wall above your typewriter; but now just an e-mail - sux

Those memes are hilarious... and so accurate.

Sometimes I apologize to my daughter in my journal. Either because of the banality of my life (mostly), or about things that she doesn't need to know about her deceased mother. I haven't made up my mind if I'll burn them before I die.

I am at 26,794 words as of last night. Halfway through NaNoWriMo!

Yes I had a brief year when I fancied myself a writer. Still have notebooks full of ideas, outlines, and chapters. However, my writing even bores me.

Hello Debra, That last one resonated because I am worried that shipping rates have gone up so much I might not be able to send myself a new supply. I will have to start finding new ways to avoid cleaning the house.

Great ones, as always. Love the thirst editions. I haven't really done NaNoWriMo. Trying to write more this month, but ideas are hard to take shape.

haha these are all hilarious.
I wanted to be a writer. I even wrote a very bad romance in my teen years. And then started to work on another one as an adult but never really got anywhere with it.

I'm still waiting for 3 more people to die and then watch the fuck out.

Well said. The uncreative process is right on the nail.

Thank goodness other people like to write. Where would I get memes from if they didn't!

For now it's just my blog. That novel or play or memoir will just have to wait until I retire, which won't happen until at least the latter half of this decade, if then. Until that time, I'll have what Twain's having. After all these years, he's my inspiration.

For me it has never been fiction, always fact or critical essay. I do enjoy it, still do it for my work (a book chapter last week, an short article this week) and my blog.

I've never had a desire to write. I did some good essays at night school years ago but that's about it.

How nice it would be to write a novel
Alas, my blogging will have to suffice.

I actually wrote three books under a pen name

This was the inspiration (comedy) I needed! Thank you. My #nanowrimo is at about 6900 words and it's pure garbage, haha...but who cares...I love writing.

I wish I had the gift of writing. It must be an awesome experience to be a published author.

Yes, that's right - 90% staring at the screen. Maybe, sometimes 95%.

I am cracking up. Love these.

These are funny. :) Every now and then I feel the urge to write, and I start with lots of enthusiasm, but I've never finished one story! So I write on my blog, at least I can finish each entry so far lol! Hugs dear Debra, I hope your leg is healing well!

Loved it. Gonna share with my writer friend.

These are all wonderfully funny. The "Thirst Writers" had me roaring for a while. The same goes for the "REVENGE" girl.

LOL, some of these feel like I'm being called out! Not really doing NaNoWriMo BUT I am polishing up the rough draft of my first full length novel.
