The Enduring Nature of Queerness

There have been an increasing number
of right-wing attacks on our community
over the past year, it is true.

But do not despair!

We haven't come this far to be
scared off by today's bullies!

Take heart in the enduring
nature of queerness, everyone!

And in our ability
to fight and resist!

Leo Herrera, Mexican writer and LGBTQ+ activist, on ‘Don’t say Gay’:

“’Don’t Say Gay’ gives me church giggles. They’re still trying to get rid of us? When will they understand our Queerness floats to the top like cream and explodes when it’s buried? They can draft their bills, and ban our books and social media, wipe the cream pie off Anita Bryant’s face, clear their priests Grindr history but it’s too late. Queerness can’t be contained because it is the container. The hinges on Pandora’s box and the rub marks on Aladdin’s lamp. The sea glass their child already picked up, while they shielded their eyes from our sun and turned their back on our ocean. Volatile, elemental, sacred, everywhere, sacred. Always.”

Thanks to everyone who read these posts,
left comments, told their stories, came out,
and had fun at my blog this month!

See you again at next year's
Translesbigayapalooza!

In the meantime, continue
to be proud every day!

And as the old saying goes --

KEEP ON TRUCKIN'!

Somewhere Over the Rainbow

And here's another Rainbow Queen!

And for those of you
who wanted to see me
in those flamingo sunglasses --

(I'm not very good at taking selfies,
which explains that look of
rapt concentration
on my face, LOL!)

Supportive Friends and Family

Everyone can learn from
THIS supportive parent!

Oh, thought I couldn't work
superheroes into this post?

Well, think again!

In a recent Superboy storyline,
Clark Kent and Lois Lane are
very supportive parents of their
bi son Jonathan Kent . . .

. . . and of his new boyfriend Jay!

Earlier this month, Bill Lisleman of
alerted me to a recent twitter fight about
Wonder Woman -- here's the scoop!

HRH's Pride Musical Theatre

What good is sitting
Alone in your room?
Come hear the music play --

Life is a cabaret, old chum,
Come to the cabaret!

Put down the knitting,
The book and the broom,
It's time for a holiday!
Life is a cabaret, old chum,
Come to the cabaret!

Come taste the wine,
Come hear the band,
Come blow your horn,
Start celebrating!
Right this way, your table's waiting --

What good's permitting
Some prophet of doom
To wipe every smile away?
Life is a cabaret, old chum,
Come to the cabaret!

I used to have this girlfriend known as Elsie
With whom I shared four sordid rooms in Chelsea.
She wasn't what you'd call a blushing flower --
As a matter of fact, she rented by the hour.

The day she died, the neighbours came to snicker.
"Well, that's what comes from too much pills and liquor."
But when I saw her laid out like a queen,
She was the happiest corpse I'd ever seen!
I think of Elsie to this very day.
I remember how she'd turn to me and say --

"What good is sitting
Alone in your room?
Come hear the music play.
Life is a cabaret, old chum,
Come to the cabaret!"

And as for me --
And as for me --
I made my mind up, back in Chelsea,
When I go -- I'm going like Elsie!
Start by admitting
From cradle to tomb,
It isn't that long a stay.
Life is a cabaret, old chum --
It's only a cabaret, old chum --
And I love a cabaret!
