The Autumn Equinox Is Here

In the northern hemisphere,
today marks the first official day of Fall.

Time to get out the warm, comfy sweaters!

Maybe bake an apple pie?

Or enjoy a hot toddy?

Let's go crunching through the fallen leaves!

Even Her Royal Highness the Cat
has her special Fall rituals!

And to those of you who
celebrate the Old Ways and
the Turning of the Wheel --

And to those of you who
love Halloween, just be
patient for a little while longer --

All I can think of is all the bloody leaves I'll have to start raking up soon. I've just realised I don't own a sweater.

Did someone say hot toddy?????

It will be a while for our warm sweaters....we're still in the high 80s with humidity. I do enjoy the colors of fall though and the Northeast is lovely in the fall.

I love this time of year! There's so much to love about it. And the cooler weather suits me just fine.

Right on schedule our temps are dropping ... though they may go up a little next week. Still, a few days of cool would be lovely.

That last photo.
There's Halloween displays popping up EVERYWHERE. And also, I realized that when I left, my jacked felt... necessary???

It's the Autumnal Equinox already?! I'll pass on HRH's offer of a pumpkin mice latte in favour of one of those hot toddys with a flaming marshmallow....

Love those hot toddies. It's still summer, although a cold front is passing through and all has cooled off a bit.

Here in St Louis, it was 95(f) yesterday. Today it's 69(f). It's like somebody turned a switch.

I do miss comfy sweaters. I still have them. I just have no opportunity to wear them. A hot toddy wouldn’t be bad either. Maybe if the temperature drops below 18C.

yay!!! and, finally!

What a lovely post for the Autumn Equinox, Debra! I know you can't wait for Halloween. The pie is a work of art. I sure wish I could find Macintosh apples here. I haven't had one in at least three years. I buried myself in a blanket and sweater today. I actually put the fireplace on for a few minutes, and then I thought about how hard it was going to be for the people in Ukraine and Europe and turned it off. Wishing you and your Rare One a happy and relaxing autumn weekend!

Aww... what a sweet post. I am in love with autumn this year. Usually I resent it. I have to tool around your blog, hon. I wasn't even aware... and that big skeleton? The Boyfriend wants one but every time we go to get one they are sold out.

Around here (especially in stores), no one has to wait for Halloween--there's spookiness everywhere. My favorite part of this Equinox is how the temperatures have cooled down so yummily. Yesterday was the first day I spent in the garden, without feeling like I would drown in my own sweat. TMI?

Happy and Blessed Autumn Equinox, Debra.

Listopad. Leaf falling. It is still a few weeks away. We have had a difficult year. We have had several difficult years in a row.

Dear LLcooljoe
Why do you have to be worrying about raking leaves?
Nobody expects you to die of suffocation, under a pile of autumn leaves.

stunning autumn welcome dear Debra
our weather has been changing slowly due to three month long rains it happened before the actual time it does every year so it is one of the pleasing consequences of recent torrential rains here

I love the pile of warm comfy sweaters, which we call jumpers. I wish I could own a few, but keeping cat hair off them would be a nightmare.

“Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness”… It’s spring here, but doesn’t feel like it.

I have a love hate relationship with autumn, I like the fact I'm not too hot, I love to see the leaves turn. I hate the damp, the cold (especially as I get older).

I want the recipe for the flaming cocktail.

My favorite neighbor had her giant skeleton out only a couple of days after the equinox (which is why she's my favorite neighbor).
