In my life - as in yours I am sure - I have had to listen to some very boring people droning on and on. Not least when I was a choirboy in my local church listening to never-ending sermons from the vicar, That is my idea of hell - listening to a dull sermon that never ends.
Whether heaven and hell exist, we need them for assurance we will see loved ones again, and those diabolical people will get their own final reward in kind. We already know that good people get screwed, and bad people profit from that. To keep things from feeling futile on a daily basis, we placate ourselves with the two little boxes of final rewards. Frankly, I hope they are real. I miss my grandmothers, grandfathers, and so many others. And I'm praying certain people in power in multiple countries are smited and sent to hell.
Ok, these were funny! And they all had that ironic ring of truth to them. I read an excellent fantasy series where Hell is a place with very hip coffee shops and outstanding medical facilities. (Dr Greta Helsing series by Vivian Shaw)

With the heatwaves we've had and that are coming, I no longer fear Hell.
