Advent of the Sun Altar: Fourth Week, Fourth Candle

[Background info about this series of posts found here]

This is my favourite Winter Solstice chant. We sang and drummed it every December at my Women's Drumming and Goddess Chanting Circle. The chant honours the sacred and deep interconnectedness of the Winter, the Earth, the Divine Feminine, and our Souls. At the centre of existence, there is only One Song and we all share in it --

Deep, deep, deep into the heart of the winter.
Deep, deep, deep into the womb of the Mother.
Deep, deep, deep where there is no other
Song but the song of my soul!

--Anne Hill

As we light the Fourth Candle, may we grasp the Unity of All as we await the Sun's imminent rebirth.

You are welcome to join me again next Sunday for the fifth and final candle marking the Winter Solstice!

Hello Debra, The winter solstice may mark the rebirth of the sun, but the coldest months seem to come after that, at least in my experience. January in Taiwan and January and February in Cleveland. This year seems to be contradicting recent weather patterns by being colder than usual. How about where you live?

@ Parnassus (Jim) -- We've had a couple of brushes with the polar vortex so far (-20C to -30C) and will be going into the deep freeze again by Christmas, but most of the time the weather is seasonal (-15C to -20C) so it's not too bad right now. But yes, January is coming!

Hi Debra, this chant has a bit of a "in the womb" feeling... which is probably intentional. I'm really looking forward to the Sun's imminent rebirth. It's been damp and foggy here for what feels like forever, and the sun just can't seem to break through... (But for the last few years, we've only had sub-zero temperatures at night.)
All the best and have a wonderful time until the winter solstice!
🕯️✨❣️, Traude

This is a beautiful post, Deb. As I was reading the chant I could hear my drum. The alter is just gorgeous. Also thank you for the information on Saral wax-free tracing paper. If you don't mind I will share your comment on next FFO. Have the best day.

That's a beautiful ritual. Winter is not my favorite season, but I do like festive lights and candles!
