Same-Sex Dancing

Here's a lovely terra cotta relief of My Rare One and I celebrating Pride Month! Actually, we bought this a few years ago in Italy, at a garden centre just outside the tiny Tuscan village of Vinci (where Leonardo da Vinci was born).

You wouldn't believe all the trouble we had getting this damn thing home. Because it's breakable, I put it in my carry-on, wrapped up in t-shirts to cushion it. The airline said no, it couldn't go on board the plane because I could use it as a weapon and hit someone over the head with it. So we had to frantically rearrange our two carry-ons while in the security line and then check one so it would go under the plane. All the while holding up this huge line of impatient people behind us, of course.

Anyway, it did ultimately get to Edmonton in one piece and now every summer it graces My Rare One's backyard cedar fence.

Don't Be Judgmental

It's a Brave New World, kids. Besides, "they" always said the Gay Agenda would lead to this!

You Are What You Eat, Part 2

Hey, Jack and Ennis opened a restaurant!

No need for paranoia, little kitty!

No men allowed!

57 varieties? We only need 7!

COOKIES!

Diabetics beware! Yes, be gay but don't drink this -- too much sugar!

Fuck yeah, people, what's up with this?

You Are What You Eat, Part 1

The Greeks knew when they had a good thing going *wink* . . . Donairs, I'm talking about donairs! (That's what we call gyros in Canada. I don't know what you call them in the USA).

Ellen can steal my lunch anytime!

Oh look! A lesbian farmers market!

Mmmm, pasta.

Not only are you what you eat, you are what you drink too.

Drinks for everybody!

You can never go wrong with H₂O-mo.

Wait, don't get up from the table yet! Dinner's not over -- there's more tomorrow!

RuPaul's Drag Race [spoiler alert]

I adore, SIMPLY ADORE, drag queens. So last night I was glued to the TV watching the Season 7 Grand Finale of RuPaul's Drag Race -- WHO would be crowned as America's Next Drag Superstar?

And not all that terribly surprisingly, the winner was Violet Chachki, who wowed the judges earlier this season with a spectacular reversible runway outfit . . .

. . . and that ultra-cinched waist! Ouch, it hurt just to look at her!

Violet is very young -- just turning 23 -- and quite rightly says she is the "past, present and future of drag." Cutting edge is her specialty and she's outstanding at it!

My fave in the race, however, was Ginger Minj -- I do like a sweet, sassy and sexy big girl! She couldn't match Violet for fashion but, in my opinion, was clearly superior in the acting, lip-syncing and comedy departments. She was the only one of the Top Three to get a celebrity endorsement for her campaign -- from John Waters! And if the man who brought Divine to the Big Screen doesn't know superstar drag queen quality, then I don't know who does!

My two other favourite queens were:

Miss Kennedy Davenport, who wore that eye-popping Pride dress! Yowza!

The sheer audacity of that outfit's over-the-top rainbow kitschiness quite rightly inspired internet fanart. A Legend is Born!

And my other fave was dear prudish Max, she of the classy elocution skills, because, well, I just have always had a thing for silvery grey hair. I don't know if that qualifies as a fetish or not.

It's That Time Again!

Yes, June is LGBT Pride Month and so here on She Who Seeks blog, it's time once again for the celebration known as . . .

TRANSLESBIGAYAPALOOZA!

All my posts this month (well, 99% of them anyway) will highlight the weird and wacky fun of being a sexual and/or gender minority! I've been saving up these LOLs for months and now it's time to unleash them all!

The above photo is of the High Level Bridge right here in Edmonton, Alberta. Late last year, it was all lit up in rainbow flag colours to support a legislative bill allowing students to form Gay/Straight Alliances in all Alberta schools, including in Catholic and other religious schools that are otherwise opposed. If any school receives public funds from the government, it must now allow all students equal civil and human rights despite any religious teachings to the contrary.
