My Rare One likes to go to Maui every 5 years when she reaches a significant birthday milestone. "Birthdays are painless in Hawaii," she says. We stayed in a condo hotel in Kihei and drove around the island enjoying Maui's sun, sand, surf, sightseeing and shopping. We also spent a few days visiting friends in Honolulu on the island of O'ahu.
The weather was a beautiful 25-30˚C (80-85˚F) with only a couple of rain showers while we were there. Warm breezes, sunny days, blue skies. This is what we saw from our patio window --
We arrived home in Edmonton to -20˚C (-4˚F) and a white blanket of snow. This is now our view from our frosty kitchen window -- and yes, that's our labyrinth peeking through the snow. Reality check, LOL!

I think just about anything s painless in Hawaii! I hope you had a fabulous time. - What a landscape to come home to. :)
PS: I uninstalled my followers and reinstalled them fresh. Give it one more try and let's see what happens.
Welcome back. You've been missed.
Mary
I would have just stayed in Maui! Snow and cold weather is not a fun thing to come home to!
Ouch--that's got to be a bumpy landing, transition from 80 degrees and sun to -20 & snow. Hopefully the warm memories will carry you through the winter!
Welcome Home you 2....sun and surf...blinky blink...all gone...sorry!
Aloha right back at you! You have been missed, but glad you two had a fab time soaking up those tropical rays and balmy breezes!
A very Happy Belated Birthday to the Rare One! ❤
Vacations are so nice...the only problem with them is that they have to come to an end!
And the scene outside your window is quite pretty, with the snow hanging on the tree limbs and all. :0)
Welcome Back!! Sounds like the weather was great out there...hope you enjoyed the balance of your trip and that Rare One enjoyed her birthday...Things have been quiet around here...just going along as usual...
I bet colonoscopies are painful in Hawaii. And root canals. Not that I'm pain focused lately or anything. That's what happens when you go away and leave us all heartbroken.
I am so glad you are back! Thank you for sharing the pictures!
Welcome Home!
Although, I would not blame you had you stayed in Maui forever!
Ohhhh....not a warm welcome back! But ti sounds like you had a wonderful trip!
Welcome back! Sure sounded like a great trip too! Who needs the sun, beach and warms breezes anyway? We do!
I have soooo missed you...but after seeing the Maui photos....bite me
Welcome Home! Glad you enjoyed the sun and surf to prepare yourself for the snow! :D :D
Hey, you are back! Welcome home and keep the snow west of Winnipeg, puleeeeeze!!!
I've been to Honolulu. It's beautiful.
By the way, I like the fact that you give temperatures in both C and F. :)
Welcome back. I'm sitting in SeaTac waiting to get on a plane to Honolulu myself. :)

Ahhhhhh! We've just been daydreaming about visiting Hawaii!
Eegads! It's cold in your town now!
aloha lucky one!...you must be feeling pretty good, tanned and happy....don't let a little frigid air bother you!....
One of these days I must, have to, go to Hawaii. I've never been. And I have a good friend and former roommate there!
This looks lovely. Even the snow. Although a huge juxtaposition for sure.
Glad you're back to the blog.
welcome back +follow
oh yeah! teddy had her eyes done again while you were gone! they won't admit it but i think they botched the first operation. so we are sleeping on the garden room floor and having thanksgiving dinner on the garden room floor. no steps and the cone of shame until at least next monday. we take her out for a 2 hour car ride each day just to get her out of the house. she gets 2 hamburger patties from mcdonalds. i think she would wear the cone forever if she could keep getting them!
wb youse guyz... what'd heh say? :O lol
I want that palm!
And welcome back ;-)
