Good Summer Reads, Part 2
Brandon Meyers and Bryan Pedas of A Beer for the Shower have written another great humour book -- The Sensationally Absurd Life and Times of Slim Dyson. What happens when a sweet homeless guy with a heart of gold and a trusting nature strikes it rich as an author? And then Hollywood comes knocking for the film version of his book? Be prepared for a roller-coaster ride of fun! You can get this in paperback or ebook format -- click here to go to Amazon's paperback version.
Twisted Roads is the latest from Travis Erwin of Bacon, Beer & Books. After 15 years, two women who have been arch rivals since high school finally face off. Angela has a tarnished name and a bitter heart. Shelly is a small town Texas queen with secrets. Lucas is the man caught in the middle. Written with Travis's usual wit and style, this novel sensitively explores a deeper emotional dilemma: what if you spent your whole life loving the wrong person? Right now Twisted Roads is available as an ebook but will also be published as a paperback on May 15th. Click here for Amazon's ebook link.
See, this is why I'm still not finished reading Moby-Dick -- I get side-tracked reading all these other great books in the meantime! I hope some or all of them will pique your interest too. Happy reading!

Thank you for posting about these books, for they sound like something I'd be interested in reading.
Good to know, will add them to my book list to read.
Thanks for the suggestions ... i need to add to my reading list ... ;D
I've got the Slim Dyson book. 'Twas a good read indeed. I read Moby Dick, but only because the penguins forced me too back in school.
Wish I would take the time to read..I just don't..If I'm in to a book, I do nothing else..
Great suggestions. For many years I didn't read fiction. Now I am enjoying it.

I definitely need to read these! They sound hilarious!
Sounds great. I will check them out!
well those are some good reads,
These sound excellent! Now get back to reading Moby Dick!!!
I love the humor from the Beer For the Shower guys. Slim Dyson's story is a fun read.
I wasn't familiar with Twisted Roads but will check it out.
Happy reading indeed! I love books, I'd rather read than do anything else. Except maybe bake! :)
yay... travis is on a roll! :)
These both sound like good possibilities Debra. Thanks!
I checked for both at the library but they don't have them yet. meh
I would get side tracked reading Moby Dick. Likely it would end up under my bed. Forever.
Twisted Roads sounds good..amazon here i come.
I love the ABFTS guys! And I haven't even started Moby Dick. Don't feel bad. :)
Seem like interesting books, Debra. But I am reading something else now and planning to read something else..I wish life was enough for all the things we want to do. Also, I've got Moby Dick with me too..is it a boring read?
I need about five more hours in the day.
And don't feel bad about Moby Dick. I never finished it either and I don't feel like I have missed out on anything.
Though I've been reading English books lately, I'm now reading a crime series in Romanian, my native language, it almost sounds "funny" to read in Romanian, since for the past years I've been surrounded by English.. though I live in Finland, but don't speak FIN yet.. quite a language mix-up, provided I actually studied French and Norwegian :))
Barnacles and Seaweed! You STILL aren't done with Moby Dick??? Jeesh! Put that poor whale out of its misery, Debra!
Thanks for the new book reviews by the way, they look great!
Hey, I know that Slim guy!
(We're glad you liked it! Thank you!)
I'm intrigued by Travis's book. However, I'd better not spend my whole life loving the wrong person. My wife will not be happy with that.
These both sound fun! Especially The Sensationally Absurd Life and Times of Slim Dyson. I love success stories and then adding humor makes it so perfect!
lots of books to read, Debs!
I'm side-tracked, too, by a growing pile of books. One of B&B's is in that pile. Thanks for both recommendations, Debra.
xoRobyn
This is why I never even started Moby!!!
I usually go for crime fiction.
This looks like just the kind of book I need to read this summer!
I love ole Travis
Thanks for the recommendations! I'm always looking to expand my reading horizons!
Not sure why, dont like novels. More of a history and text book kinda gal. I lie, I love Dan Brown, then again I think its all the history woven into his novels...not to mention Im a conspiracy theorist, as they say.
You highlighted one of my favorite books, Debra. I have a crush on my guy, Slim!
I love the legs on the second book cover.
And by the way, I read Moby Dick twice. I'd do it again this summer, but too many other books to read.
Thanks Debra. You know I love some good humor so will be sure and check out Ol' Slim.
