Hasn't this meme had its 15 minutes already? How many silly variations of it can there be?
And yet -- the original phrase had great meaning and a really interesting history. Watch this fascinating little video to find out!
Oh, okay then. The phrase can stay.

Keep calm and hug your cat :-)
no matter how many variations I fail to remember to Keep calm and carry on, panic and hide comes to mind quite often, have a great Friday!!!!
the states seems to have changed it to 'keep calm and carry a gun'.
That large block of pink freaked me out and the dolly design at the too!
I think it was better stated in Monty Python's Holy Grail rabbit scene..."run away, run away".
I've never accepted that meme... it's rather annoying over at Facebook
The origins of the phrase are pretty cool, but most people have no clue about it. It's just another popular meme for them.
Very hard to do when your adrenaline is racing. Never knew the origin of that phrase. Always finding something new here. thank you.
I love that video! I had no idea it was a war time slogan. I actually had no idea it was a meme either, I guess, I just knew I was seeing it everywhere. Thanks for sharing this!
The original will always be my favourite, and holds the most meaning. It's on the front of my blogging ideas notebook that comes with me wherever I go. :)
It's like so many things in life. I was schooled to learn life things, historical things, practical things. I have always been interested in the beginnings, origins, roots of things. Most folks don't shive a get.
I'm gonna sound old but who cares, my daughter never cared much for research and so she is surprised by basic things as an adult. My grands are learning about 40% of what my daughter learned. The world is becoming more uninformed about basics and more informed about Kim K and her big butt, or Justin B and his randy scuzzy self, but history, geography, traditions and the meaning of life is well.....keep calm and be dumb. And yes, I did say that, Oma Linda
I love the video. I knew the original quote had a connection to the war effort but I wasn't familiar with Barter Books. What a lovely story. While the phrase may be over commercialized the 3 original posters are actually quite wonderful.
Keep on trucking!

Wow! A new bookstore to visit for my "bucket list".
If i could make a bunch of those hearts here on blog, i would. But i'll just say i love it. And i ignore all the trivializations of it i see in so many places.
Well, I like that's it's pink.
That video was a cool history lesson. But I do wish people would stop over using this meme.
I'm a fan of the original. I have a mug with the saying on it.
KEEP CALM
OR
DON'T
As you wish... ;-)
This is so interesting!! Thanks for sharing this Debra! I would love to go to this book store!
Keep calm and celebrate Christmas! Lame, I know. I'll go watch the video now...
This phrase has been used to the point of it being worn out. But it to shall pass....
Where have I been? I never heard of the phrase until now. Geez, as my daughter says to me, "Mom, you need to get out more." LOL! Cheers!!
Keep calm and eat chocolate.
A colleague gave me one for over my desk that says:
Keep Calm
and
Sing Show Tunes
She knows me real well - and she and I often do when the going really gets tough. We do a great "Hey Big Spender".
I came back to tell you that I saw one at the bookstore and I actually did like it. A blue bookmark that read, Keep Calm. I'm the Doctor.
