Happy Labour Day!

Oh, if only we didn't need pesky little ongoing necessities like food, rent/mortgage, clothes, etc.! Then we could all kiss the workforce goodbye and live a life of leisure like the 1% do.

But huzzah! There is one day of the year which recognizes the invaluable contributions of labour to our economic system, whether people comprehend the true nature of that system or not.

And this is not the day to be snarky or holier-than-thou about anyone else's occupation or profession -- we're all in the same boat when it comes to trading our life energy for money.

And above all else, make work and your job your priority!
Like this prime example of Worker of the Year --

Stifle those doubt-filled, non-conformist impulses!

It won't take a toll on you over the years!

Work-life balance? Fuhgeddaboutit!

Your boss knows best!

Try to get along with everyone, fer gawd's sake.

And always remember . . . .

There now, doesn't that make you feel better about work?

I am glad you are so enthusiastic about working. I presume this is a subtle announcement that you are giving up retirement and joining the rest of us miserable people? Surely as a retired person you wouldn't be posting all of this just to remind us of our plights?

Life of leisure only 1%. You've forgotten us retired people.

One thing about the US,we know how to save time at work ...we take the 'u' out of 'labor' so we can get it done faster. =)

LoL. Guess all employers want employees like the nuclear explosion guy.

About the co-worker who asked, "Could you be any more annoying?" I would respond proudly, "I can ALWAYS be more annoying."

Too much desk duty. Paying the price now.

The meme with the monkey... I have done that to a co-worker that just wouldn't shut up while I was trying to concentrate on my work. I actually yelled at her to shut the fuck up bet she never turned me in. She was nicer than I thought.

Socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires.

quote often attributed to John Steinbeck, which apparently is incorrect.

Come on winning lottery numbers, Steven wants a yacht! Good ones Debra, my sister always says, "work gets in the way of life". The lucky ducky has a government job and gets to retire this winter.

And Happy Labour Day to you too, friend D :) … Hard to say, which one of these true funnies is my favourite, but (being a ^.^), I think I'll go with the rat one :) Much love, cat.

Holy Cats, these made me laugh! But the tap shoes... that one takes the cake.
Thanks for the chuckles, Debra!

I had an experience once that followed the advice given by the experts. Without even thinking, seeming to have no control over what I was doing, something made me get up from my desk, walk out and not return. I was a single parent, with my twins to raise, and somehow worry never entered my mind. I just got up the next morning and began looking for a new job. Of course, jobs were easier to find back in the day. Seriously doubt it would be so in today's employment environment.

Some great memes.

Any man who survives Hiroshima and Nagasaki is a legend to be taught at work.

Hello Debra, These resonated with me as someone who pretty much did what the first cartoon suggested. That created its own complications, but oh was it worth it!

HAHAHAHA--the one that made me laugh right out loud was the one where the co-worker asked if they could be anymore annoying so they wore tap shoes to work. I hate to say it, but that is something I might do. lol A fun post...and Canada was several years ahead of in celebrating Labor Day! xo Diana

I think it guaranteed loyaltee.

I feel good about my job. My boss is a sassy b*tch. She's me. I like it that way.
Thanks for this fun tribute to Labor Day.
A good week to you and yours.

good ones to start me thinking. The comparison between sex workers and coal miners is interesting. I don't think there is any sex workers who are also coal miners but what do I know. Maybe I should have tried yoga.

Janie Junebug said...

Oh, yes. Please let me walk and keep going. Every now and then I see a company missive that mentions employee retention. If they actually wanted to retain employees, they'd tell the managers to stop bullying us.

Love,
Janie

The sex workers/ coal miners is a favorite meme of mine. I always nod when I see it. A few of these memes here had me laughing a little too hard, making me grateful I work from home most days.
