Stonehenge Funnies

It's been 10 years now since My Rare One and I visited Stonehenge in 2009. It was a dream come true for me! So to mark that anniversary, here are some memes and LOLs about the world's most famous neolithic stone circle.

And you’ve done it again. Thanks for collecting and sharing these! I have still not been to Stonehenge and have always wanted to go.

Those are great! Husband said when he went with his parents, when he was little, he and his sister ran around between the rocks and touched them. Now, you can't get near them. What was it like when you visited? -Jenn

I'm afraid you're got Druids!

Debra She Who Seeks said...

@ coffeeontheporchwithme -- Hi Jenn, yes, the general public is no longer allowed to walk among the stones because the vast numbers of visitors would put too much environmental stress on the site. But for half an hour at sunrise and again at sunset every day, approximately two dozen special tickets are available which do allow ticket holders to go among the stones. As you can imagine, these tickets are in great demand and must be purchased far in advance. Our tout guide had sunset tickets for our group so we got up close and personal with Stonehenge! In fact, she led us in a Druid ritual there. It was magical!

A fascinatingly enigmatic relic of a distant time. I have often wondered whether some of my own ancestors helped build it.

Stonehinge~! Riot~

These are great! I got to visit Stonehenge many long years ago. We were not allowed up close though. Still, I could feel the specialness of the place and stones.

Hello Debra, Lucky you and your Rare One to get to see Stonehenge, and up close, yet! When I went to England intending to do a little touring, I hurt my knee the first day and could barely move the whole time. I did get to see all kinds of cool things in London, though.

p.s. I love the comet/fireball in the dinosaur one!

Love the turn back the clock meme, friend D :) If anything it's a great job creation program :) Wonder what the wages were like :) Wonder whether they had unions back then :) And what about workman's comp :) Love, cat.

Wouldn't it be funny if it was just some random art project?

Love the butter one. 😂

It's astonishing that nobody's ever pinched a couple of bits to carry out a quick repair...

My favorites are are "Great we have mice" and "Stonehenge, the real story".

Even see European Vacation and what happens when Chevy Chase backs up his car at Stonehenge?

Miss Val's Creations said...

Great finds about this forever mystery!

Debra She Who Seeks said...

@ Kirk -- No, I've never seen "European Vacation" . . . but I can just IMAGINE the carnage he would wreak at Stonehenge!

Sandy said...

Great fun, some day I'd like to see it in person, but have heard from several who did how disappointed they were...apparently everthing is from such a distance you don't get to be a part of it.

I have never been. And Stonehenge is not that far from where we live.

Mom (RIP) had her own theory about the creation of Stonehenge -- A tornado did it.

Do you know, I live probably less than one hundred miles away and I've not visited Stonehenge. How bad is that?

I am with Rain - Spinal Tap all the way.

The Stonehenge not was the only really funny part of the Spinal Tap movie.
