[A link party about art issues hosted by
Nicole of DVArtist, Art, Food and Everyday Things]
This contemporary artist is an absolute master
of minimalism and the powerful use of negative space.
With just a few simple lines of graphite surrounding
detailed, expressive eyes, ShouXin creates dynamic
portraits which perfectly capture feline
character, moods, and physicality.

Thanks for sharing such beautiful portraits of cats...and they certainly are wonderfully done!
These essence of cats.
...I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE these!!!
She has made the expression and movement of the cats masterly 👏
These are great, thank you! Bold and fearless, gesture is everything! This is art to live by.
I adore those simple cat drawings. Simple but also not something everyone can accomplish.
I can't seem to join SITAR today. It is strange.
@ Gene Black -- Yes, there's some kind of problem on Nicole's blog. I'm sure she'll fix it later today once she's aware of it.
These are absolutely fabulous. What an amazing artist. And they somehow remind me of a thing a guitar player friend of mine said which was that it's not the notes you play, it's the notes you don't play.
OMG ... I love ❤️ all of these and there is no question as to what they are! They are beautiful!
These are so wonderful, Debra.
WOW!!! That's amazing. How can anyone create such drawings with so few pencil lines? As a person who can barely draw a stick figure I am blown away. Thanks for sharing.
Wow! I'm kind of speechless on this art. It is fabulous. Thank you for sharing. I think I have the blog fixed now. Not sure what was happening but please try to link up again.
Incredible line art! I'm very familiar with those cat movements ^^
Hello Debra, Shou Xin's cats are a lot of fun. His technique of indicating the body with striped lines reminds me of those Palatnik cats (and other animals) you see every so often:

Also, his minimizing the body except for the facial features reminds me of that famous photo of Audrey Hepburn:

MEOW!!!
Incredible. Amazing. Never heard of her but thanks so much for the intro
@ Parnassus (Jim) -- Two very on point examples, thanks for those links!
Superlative! So simple, just a few lines, and yet the cat appears as if by magic. I can hear the meiows.
These are wonderful! HRH might even purr in approval...
Thank you for sharing them with us
I like the colors of Sunday in the Art Room best.
Very good Debra! -Christine cmlk79.blogspot.com
Dear Debra, I absolutely love all the cat drawings, dear friend! And the last picture "I am HRH and I approve this post" had me laughing!
I also approve! :)
When she finishes her "feline period" I hope she'll consider a "leporine period." That minimalistic art seems perfect for rabbits, too.
ces chats sont tous plus étonnants les uns que les autres. J'adore. c'est magnifique
@ Milleson -- Yes, wouldn't that be wonderful! Rabbits do marvelous little jumps and twists called "binkies" which would lend themselves perfectly to this style of art!
Just a note, Debra. Most of your readers seem to assume that Shou Xin is female, but all references to this artist on the internet use he/him. Also, on his Instagram page there is a cartoonish but male-looking profile drawing:

But absent a DNA certificate, the drawings are delightful whatever the artist's gender.

@ Parnassus (Jim) -- Thanks for that clarification and link. And he seems to be monetizing his art very successfully!
Brush channeling essence of cat! Loose, energetic movement- fabulous!
