Remember Earth Day?

The true cost of Fast Fashion --

"An Empire Built on Waste"

Has the Environment
fallen off our political agenda
in these troubled times?

Yes, it appears so.

Oh, the SHEIN art installation and the Greta sticker are flawless.
I just did a Word Earch in my WWFs about Earth Day.
We’re cooked, btw. That doomsday clock is ticking.

XOXO

...have a happy earth day!

I saw stars early this morning. Not a usual part of my love of nature. Yet another bit of her beauty. Environmental awareness gives so much sorrow, but ephemeral joy..

The words of David Suzuki are great.
Baltic Sea is very importan for Finnland, and we are doing much for cleaning it...

The trash art piece and the bumpersticker ... we're never going to learn.

I like David Suzuki and that meme with him is fantastic!

Yes, I do believe our political parties have dropped the ball on the environment...again. Soon as there are cuts, it's always the first to go. And the An Empire Built on Waste can go so many ways! Consumerism is a very bad thing.

Yes. Happy Earth Day to those of us who celebrate it.
Usually every day.

Can you believe David Suzuki turned 90 last month?
All of the memes break my heart.

I keep saying, "Humans are the scourge of the earth." We destroy, destroy, destroy. If it were up to The Orange One our national parks would become oil fields.

Until "they" go back to equipment and appliances that are cheaper to fix than replace,
Until "they" cease packaging that is not biodegradable,
Until "they" make public transportation meaningful to the people in all points between the East Coast and the West Coast,
The working class gets the burden of waste, pollution, landfills, and climate change.

🤗 Well, at least there are some things we earthlings can always count on.
🦆 If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, and walks like a...uh-oh! 😖
The EPA's mission now is to redefine what a duck is?! 🤬

I'm at a Stand up for Science online Earth Day celebration this evening at 8 eastern time. I haven't forgotten Earth Day, and I've done better at being a friend to the environment ever since. As Jane Goodall used to say, don't give in to despair. Just do what you can. It adds up!

Suzuki is a star!

Human species , greed and destruction has not been the most clever for this planet. Until humans are wiped out there will not be a mother earth recovery. Trump men and bazillionaires are inadvertently doing just that. so , maybe they are doing a service...sounds like a reach but...maybe. In the meanwhile- we recycle, boycott, use less oil , make a garden , don't murder animals that annoy us...the little things that make us FEEL as though we are helpers for good.
Humans have certainly disappointed Earth's nature. I think she may have had enough.

Hello Debra, These are all sad but true, and incidentally quite clever. My favorite was "We ruined the internet!" I had forgotten about that annoying paper clip thing.

Regarding Anonymous' comment: "Until 'they' cease packaging that is not biodegradable" it is ironic that now the packaging lasts much longer than the products.

I was thinking this morning about when we would see ads and PSAs about turning off the lights for an hour on Earth Day. I just looked it up and seemly, in 2026 this took place on March 28?!?
I often think of that Shein piece when I look at what the step-granddaughters buy!
I often complain about Amazon over packing their items. Then the other day I got a flimsy plastic bag with cookies! I'm sure they will be broken into pieces.

That Shein was is really something. These are more scary than funny.

@ Jackie McGuinness -- Yes, Earth Day and Earth Hour are always on different dates. Earth Day is always on April 22 but I think Earth Hour might move around? I'm not sure.

The same people bringing us war, discrimination, hate, intolerance, disrespect, abuse, misogyny and the rest have no interest in Earth Day. The Shein billboard art is absolutely brilliant.

Great memes, sad content. How far we've gone backwards since the 70's when we actually made good governmental decisions about the environment -- the USA, that is. I'm sure other countries are doing better. They could hardly do worse.

We are the only species dumb enough to destroy our only habitat. I agree with David Suzuki.

Bill said...

Suzuki is absolutely right.

Tundra Bunny said...

Ecosystems are more resilient that we think, PROVIDED that the negative impacts of humans such as habitat loss/fragmentation, over-harvest, and climate change can be significantly reduced or eliminated sooner rather than never! Mother Earth is losing patience with us.

I didn't know who David Suzuki was. I had to look him up. Thanks for intro. Loved the Shein - perfect compilation.

All of these are great but I love the Shein and of course David Suzuki.
