Monday Murals -- Up, Up And Away!

 I'm taking part today in
Monday Murals hosted by Sami.

This whimsical silhouette mural by an unidentified artist***
is found on the side of a building which houses
a mechanical services business in my city of Edmonton.

It's a great little landmark in the area!

*************************** UPDATE *****************************

No wonder everyone in the comments was
drawing connections to Banksy -- it turns out this is a stencil of
a famous Banksy mural called "Flying Balloon Girl"
created in the West Bank in 2005 as political commentary
about restrictions placed on Palestinians'
freedom of movement in that area.

Thanks to Codex and their comment setting
the record straight about this!

Not what I'd picture on a building of that kind, but it is cute and gets people talking.

Softens up the stark modern lines, and perhaps gives a bit of joy too...I'm thinking!

Banksy style, which I love!

Cool! I have also seen this work in Amsterdam, but there it has been painted over (by accident).

It's giving Bansky, and I'm here for it...
Love that they used the side of the building for it!

XOXO

I can see someone giving directions now....go past the girl being taken away by balloons and turn left :-)

Very cool and well done. Happy Victoria Day to you.

Debra She Who Seeks said...

@ Jackie McGuinness -- Yes, Banksy without the politics (or the monetary value)!

Debra She Who Seeks said...

@ Bertiebo -- I'm learning from your comment and Bob's (above) that this is not, perhaps, a unique mural image!

Debra She Who Seeks said...

@ Sixpence Notthewiser -- Yes, Banksy without the politics or monetary worth!

Debra She Who Seeks said...

@ Kathy G -- Exactly! That's how I think of it.

@ CAAZ -- And Happy Vicky Day to you too, fellow Canuckian.

A hot air balloon ride is still on my bucket list.

I believe that may be the Coppertone girl in the ad. Do you remember her? Glad to see she's getting more out of life these days.

There really are some very talented people out there.
I’d have trouble painting that in a canvas let alone on the side of the wall

A good one, Debra.

I really like this one.

@ Ms. Moon -- Hahahaha, yes, I do remember her and I like your comment!

Was Bansky there?

Debra She Who Seeks said...

@ Granny Annie -- I bet the building owner wishes he had been! That wall would be worth a fortune!

What a sweet find, Debra! :)
Have a great week! :)

How "Banksy-esque"! Too bad the the balloons weren't different colours. Happy Victoria Day, Debra.

Debra She Who Seeks said...

@ Tundra Bunny -- Yes, multicoloured balloons would look nice. At noon, I heard the 21-gun salute for Victoria Day at the Alberta Legislature. That takes care of my celebrating, LOL.

Hello Debra. Poor choice! You do not want to know my extremely low opinion of this image and of those who create or replicate it.

Very cool, reminds me of Bansky.

Very banksy

Debra She Who Seeks said...

@ Parnassus (Jim) -- I applaud your honesty! Now where's my lead pipe, hahahaha! A hockey stick would also do.

DB Stewart said...

Reminds me of Banksy too. Whoever the artist...always grateful for the way artists enrich everyday life.
