Yay, It's National Lizard Day Today!

No, it's not. I just needed a catchy title for this post of lizard memes and images.

Of course, I'm using the word "lizard" very loosely here. I'm no naturalist, so I'm not even sure what half these critters are, factually speaking. And I know, I know, some of them are really dinosaurs but jeez, aren't dinosaurs just big, extinct lizards?

Cut me some slack, willya?

(This next one, ladies -- amirite? Amirite? Hell, yeah!)

I'll leave you with this final, creepy gif. You're welcome.

The period one really caught me by surprise and made me laugh. I had to put down my laptop. And where can I get that lawn ornament thing?

that garden dino is such a lovely thrill! My late paternal grandmother would've loved it, she had a Snow-white and all seven dwarves in her fugly front garden.

Am done with that period thing … now it's that men-o-pause thing … literally … pun intended and all. This post was fun, friend D says this Alberta cat and her cat.

National lizard day!!!!!!!!! Now I have heard everything!

I love 'em all, but that last one would have Balder Half pooping a brick!

The last one is creepy, pun intended.

That last one is making my skin crawl!

Well they have things like "eat over the sink day" and other nutty special days so why not a national lizard day. On your behalf I call sexist to the picture of the baby alligator on top of the big one. That would be it's mother, they care for their babies, the dad would eat it! O.O

Love these. That lawn ornament might get you some funny looks from the locals, though -- like this lady's Christmas dragons.

aren't dinosaurs just big, extinct lizards?

You're on solid ground etymologically. Dino = thunder, saurus = lizard.

That last one looks a bit uncanny at first, but think how big the human he's climbing on seems from his point of view. He's got more reason to be creeped out than we do, really.

Well, it SHOULD be National Day of the Lizard! I love them. In all renditions. I believe I am in total love with that last one...

Being slow on the uptake this week, I'd scrolled down before I'd registered that there would be creeping involved. Eeeeeek!

OMG, I almost lost good tea laughing when I saw the period one. And then again with the one with the kid playing Jurassic Park bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

I believe that's Edward Gorey fourth from the top.

Great memes, Debra! I will say that I thought there would be more dragons involved, and maybe a eulogy for Daryl Dragon ~ aka the Captain.
The 'science tip' made me LOL for realz!

When I saw the Godzilla and the Gnomes yard statue in one of my yard porn magazines I get in the mail, I said I have to have this in the front yard. David promptly said no, it would be cruelty to animals and the neighbors would complain about Godzilla.
Do you see what I have to put up with? I can never have nice things.

I love lizards. In the warm weather here they are everywhere. We even had one living on our front door wreath for a couple of months! For some reason I have always found them adorable although I must agree that last one is creepy.

"He called me a gecko", bwahahaha!

And I must get the garden ornament. But I want my big lizard to be a zombie.

Bwahahaha - "He called me a gecko!" I LOVE it! Best joke of the year so far. Until your next series, at least.
Happy National Lizard-ry.

I hate to contradict bu it is the mother alligator who provides all the protection for the little ones. So that meme should read "That one Mom".

OK, that final GIF is VERY creey!!! As for the title of the post, I thought "Oh damn, of course there would be an annual lizard day... they've got days for everything else."

So many good ones. I may steal the lawn ornament and he called me a gecko.

Martha said...

HAHAHA! That was funny. I should get a garden ornament like that. Give the neighbours something to talk about :)

Awesome. We have a collection of bug-eating small lizards. We call them all Fred. Those Freds are fast.

Like a period, absolutely. Now we need a meme about menopause. Maybe hot flashes?

Now this was a surprise. Who would have guessed? National Lizard Day.

Auto-correct on Messenger has me signing my messages as Lizard ( unless I remember to check) so I wish I'd known earlier about National Lizard Day!

I love lizards! The xray one is cool and I especially liked learning how to tell an alligator from a crocodile. Ha! That was a good one!

We once thought a bearded dragon was a really cool pet to have. We took good care of him and he had lovely living quarters, but thought biting us was a good idea, so eventually he went back to the pet store, where they found him a more appreciative home.

i hate lizards and most creepy crawly things...
Happy New Year to you....
