Help Name This Gnome!

Remember my gnome, Fearsome the Fierce
who came to guard my basket of cushions last year?

Well, my sister loved him so much
she just HAD to have a gnome of her own,
so my crafter friend made her one
in blue and silver.

Here he is in his new home
at my sister's place.

Isn't he adorable?

But now he needs an appropriate name!

My sister inquires whether
anyone has some inspired suggestions?

Please share them in the comments!

These are gorgeous little guys! My dad's side of the family are from Bornholm in Denmark, where we call these nissen. But my household nisse is not as beautifully crafted as these two (although I won't tell him that...)! So I'll suggest Norman the Nisse 😂

Jack, short for lumberjack, I love the plaid on the bottom and the big hat.

Silver Bell the Serene or Silver Bell the Peacemaker

My first thought was Blue Bell or Blueball. How about Plaid Chad?

Blue Adan. The name means earth. They are rather cute.

Conehead the Barberless! He's too cute, he needs a fierce name. Or, maybe not.

How about Darwin's Dilemma?
the Ol'Buzzard

His looks as if he is a blue-blooded highlander so I would call him Hammish.

Like McBean, my first thought was Blueballs. However, his/her/their second suggestion Plaid Chad is far better and ready for prime time. I second Plaid Chad.

BALTHAZAR

Saint Balthazar; also called Balthasar, Balthassar, and Bithisarea,[1] was according to tradition one of the biblical Magi along with Caspar and Melchior who visited the infant Jesus after he was born. Balthazar is traditionally referred to as the King of Macedonia and gave the gift of myrrh to Jesus. In the Roman Catholic Church, he is regarded as a saint (as are the other two Magi).

I don't know of anything to call him but they are both so cute! I wish she made them for sale here in the U.S.

How about Ragnar the Reckless? Or Blue Willie? I'm surprised HRH hasn't opened her yap and offered up her two cents' worth yet, LOL!

Blå Alv, which means Blue Elf in Norwegian. Or Blå Nisse, which is a blue norwegian troll. OR... maybe he’s Swedish: Blå Tomt.

Someone already said this but, Blue Bell.

I don't USUALLY lower myself to enter such contests, at least not WITHOUT SUBSTANTIAL PAYMENT, but how about "BLUEMITTEN THE PLAID"? Or "BJORN THE BLUE"? Or "TINKLEBELL THE FEROCIOUS"?

Bluehand the Avenger. Not to be taken lightly.

Knut the Norse Knight.

Everyone is focusing on the colo(u)r of this little impostor's outfit, but the real story here is that your sister is attempting to raise her social standing via your impeccable taste in home decor. Furthermore your gnome's namesake is the one and only Fearsome Beard, who is often imitated but never surpassed. Thus I propose that your sister's gnome be named "Fearful the Fraud".

Debra She Who Seeks said...

@ Old Lurker -- Hahahahaha, it's a good thing you have your anonymity to protect you, Lurkie. Otherwise my sister would probably hunt you down and kick your ass, LOL! She is a force to be reckoned with, all in her own right!

Oh I just love these. Your friend is very talented. Here is a name that I actually named my Son.
Troy (Irish Troightheach origin) means "fighter" or "foot soldier".
This little guy looks like he will be a protector.

I second HRH's vote for "Bjorn the Blue" ~

My little troll says your sister's little troll is a peaceful one, and might be called 'Midnight, The Dream Maker". I love his little pinecone ornament.

I guess a gnome isn't a troll, but what does my troll know. He still has rose colored glasses when he looks into a mirror.

Nightly Nimrod (and funny, I bought a gnome myself recently, it should be delivered this week).

OMG... so cute!

LOL, that's not my name suggestion though. How about, Mister the Mysterious?

I think Neal the Nisse has a nice ring to it.

He is SO cute. Azule Atticus?
I don't know if I'm good at naming things, but he's a doll.

I'm sure your sister adores her gnome, Debra. I googled naming gnomes and found hundreds and hundreds of names. I didn't know this was a big passion of gnome-lovers. LOL! All the names didn't help. I will go with Silver Balls the Ferocious! Take Care!

Tiu said...

Well in Italian we call them "nani" so she could call him (one) Nano, it's a nice word (literally you'll find translated as dwarf but in our case it means more gnome).
