November's full moon altar celebrates the Hindu Goddess Kali, Great Mother of All and Destroyer of Evil. She is one of several divinities honoured during Diwali, the joyful Festival of Lights which was marked earlier this month. So on this altar I have surrounded Kali with a string of mini-lights, a pair of white lotus votive holders and two ever-changing lotus devotional lamps displaying a sequence of bright fibre-optic colours.
With her golden diadem, necklace of human skulls, arsenal of weapons and fearsome visage, Kali dances the eternal dance of creation and destruction on top of the prone body of her husband, Lord Shiva the Destroyer. Wielding her Sword of Truth, Kali cuts through all illusion. People often seek her assistance when they want to overcome their worst fears.
My statue of Kali is carved from black stone. I bought her years ago in my favourite South Asian variety store here in Edmonton.

Wow! She looks fierce!
I love your full moon altars.
Oh, I love this.
I think of Kali and Shiva as the OG OTP.
XOXO
The world is in serious need of Kali’s help.
And I’m in need of those white lotus votive holders.
OK Debs! This one just might be my favorite one now. I love the color, and you know bright lights grab my attention. Bravo on this one Debs. I love how creative you get with this.
This altar is a beauty! So rich in colour…
Preparing an alter, wearing an icon makes us mindful - a reminder that pierces through the insanity of the day.

Lovely altar..Nice statue and lights..Have a good weekend..
I've always had a special place in my heart for Kali. And not just because she's so wonderful at accessorizing. When I think of balance, a goddess of creation and destruction is always on the top of my list.
Brightest Full Moon blessings to you, my dear Debra.
Hello Debra, I think that you have pleased Kali with the beautiful array of lights you have provided--and she does not seem like a goddess you want to be on the bad side of!

Dancing on the prone body of her husband - she is one bad ass Goddess.
The color changing lamps look nice. I may have to get a few.
What a lovely altar!
Beautiful alter. The lotus flowers are a gorgeous accent. The flowers always intrigued me in how they grow.
I like the colourful lights of this one, but my favourite altars remain those of Nike, Cybele, Bast and Ixchel. I'm really curious as to who will be featured in the December full moon.... Santa? A Yeti? HRH the Red-nosed Cat?
For me Kali is a monster made by Ray Harryhausen in that Sinbad movie.
"Destroyer of Evil" - yes the world could use more of those
Trump must be avoiding her at all costs
Wow this is beautiful.
Wow. She is amazing and fierce; a perfect blend!
I agree with Magaly, the beauty is in the balance. Although, the necklace of skulls and her position atop her spouse - these are beautiful as well.
Love the color change lotus flowers! Wonderful altar, D!
Every altar teaches ne knew things. I didn't know Kali was the destroyer of evil, thought just a destroyer, an untethered scary figure. This is much better.
As if she wasn't fierce enough already, it looks like she's sticking out her tongue!
I was happy to celebrate this moon. I expect it is ok fine that i did not crawl out of my crib to watch the eclipse.
I am usually asleep or in tears at 2:00 a.m.
I am a very skeptical pagan.
I do love the moon, and if I live by the coast it would be a dandy tide.
Powerful stuff! Maybe if enough of us prepared an altar to Kali, we could stem the evil tide that seems to be oozing across this country.
The new moon with the eclipse was such an amazing event! I woke up around 3AM and saw a bit of it out the window. The planets are all in such an unusual arrangement now and the pull on the moon and earth are quite tremendous. Perhaps that's why people are so on edge these days. We humans need all the help we can get! Love and light to you.
Kali should have been around during our last presidency and destroyed some evil.
We could use her in some place here in United States.
Coffee is on and stay safe
I love the colorful lotus flower lights on your altar.
Would a bad Altarnator cause your Catholic converter to malfunction?
How beautiful that alter xxx
She is a dear. Please don't feed her buns and things.
I love that you've been able to find these precious items in your hometown. Kudos to Edmonton.
Have a great, peaceful week, Debra.
she's badass
Kali
Is a god. She reminds me of Hera that they had back in Homer's day.
She does not answer prayers. She is not concerned about helping mortals. She doesn't give a shit. She is a god and she is not anyone i would ask for help.
Total respect, but she is a god. She is not interested in our problems.
Call me superstitious, but this is one deity i don't have to build an altar for. She already has me.
oh i have seen her in movies dear Debra
she looks divine and enchanting indeed .
i love the way you express your likening for goddesses wow that's impressive to me
